What the hell is an FTP utility?

I am currently trying to add some downloads to my site,,,(www.stresswon.com) and it says this in the website creator thing....

<"First copy the respective files into the WebsiteCreator directory '/wsc…' using an FTP application. Then launch the WebsiteCreator and integrate the calling of these files like a normal link. Proceed as follows: when you are in step 5 Edit in the editing mode enter the reference to your downloadable files, select this text with your mouse and click on the button Insert link (the blue ball preceded by the glasses icon); this opens a window where you can enter the link to your file. This means: http://www.website.com/downloadbablefile.pdf (or also .doc, .xls, .zip etc…) For an image, first upload the image to the site, then right-click the image; this opens a smaller window where you select the item Link image.">

Ummmm, in lamence terms,,,can somebody explain,,,help!:headbang:

FTP = File Transfer Protocol

it is a program you use to link to your webspace and upload files to it. I use Fetch. You usually need to know your url IP address and some sort of login and password.

Its exactly what ominous said it is, if you look in the software section you'll see Wise Ftp, download that first and the process is automated when using this software to upload to software just need to enter passcode and username, so /wsc would be like the c: on your hard drive, it refers to the folder on the server that stores your files, so when wise ftp asks you for just put your homepage folder as just that.
