I just went to a studio last night and they loved my tracks as usual and myself and the CEO of the label were discussing production.....first name that came up was Kanye West...then Rodney Jerkins who he complimented on his versatility in RNB......he said he sees way too many people in hip hop nowadays are not original at all and out of the stacks of cd's he listens to he finds hot beats but only a small percent that might be considered original.....he has had Timbo and Styles and gets tracks from Notts every now and then and they work with him in his studio here in Virginia....what he listens for is what are the sounds for tomorrow, I've heard this over and over from A&R's when I go to New York and play my music for panels, what exactly are the sounds of tomorrow???......I want to know from some of the producers do you cut against the grain and create original yet not wack tracks or do you create using someone elses style that is currently out and hot now and do you think about this when producing new tracks??????

Its funny most of those CEO's are dumb cock suckas who dont know anything. I see it time and time again. They turn away hundreds of people who "Possibly have the sound of tommorow" when in reality the just tell you we need a track like so in so. They always bring up other producers. You know how many times people who are now big were turned away for not having that sound. I dont listen to any of them. Most are not even into hiphop and dont know much about anything other than trying to market to young white teens.

Sounds of tomorrow???Well all I can say is stay orginal.....When I first started I used to sample all the time but all the records I had was just about sampled already...Let's say I made 10 beats 8 of them were used already .....Then I got into sound moduels....Now I'm just too lazy to dig and go through with the whole sampling process....and since I've been orginal I seem to have my own style and sound and I think that's a good thing so bigd I think sounds of tomorrow is you and a lot of us on Illmuzik ...very few of us...You do have some of us here that try to make timbalan type of drum patterns and just blaze type of sampled trcks...no disrespect intended I'm not calling names so please don't anyone respond to that statment.......If you sit down and make a beat with out trying to go a certain direction then you are original but bigd I've heard some of your stuff and it's definitly original and that would classify as the sound of tomorrow , because if it's original it hasn't been exposed yet

i believe any track could be something for tommorow... it's all on the song.. if u have a beat u got to pitch .. how u feel it would be best delivered... and stick with the belief.. you know best... not some tie..
once i'm done recording em not even mixing 9 times out of ten they be like show thats a banger...

the reall tip however is be yourself.. i could have come out two years ago if i wanted to .. i felt i still needed to grow.. dont rush your product.. don't copy anyone formula.. you'll be alright..

um... the "sound of tommorow" doesnt even exist, because there is just no telling what can be created and what will be accepted by the MASSES, who are the poeple they are trying to market towards. a lot of cats have innovated in their own ways, they just arent heard. Eminem is one of the weakest producers out there and he is on many a wish list because of the marketing potential there. remember when this whole "neo-soul" movement began? the creators of that style left it behind almost completely (the roots) ..... i personally dont give a ats who is "innovative" or not; i just appreciate sounds that i like. what's good is good. look at premier; it does get a bit stale, but does that mean that it isnt good because it is old? there is too much given to the praises of innovation.

The sound of Tomm. is in other types of music. Then college went to was in a pretty much all white town so when i when i went to the clubs i had no choice but to listen to other types of music like techno, rock and so out. After having a few drinks the shit started to sound cool a lil bit. Im always gona be hip hop and rap when it comes to music but just like if you was to listen to the radio or what ever style is hot in rap right now your gona pick it up the same thing with other types of music. the only difference is you gona keep it still hip hop but just gona take bits and parts that you pick up from other types of music and add it in. Sometimes i got to these b.s. clubs just to hear music that i wouldnt be cault dead riding in the hood with but i just have feel drinks in the club and break down all the sounds and how there being use and since techno maybe way faster then rap in my head ill slow the sounds up. or even with rock or anything....cause hit in rock might not be a hit with those who listen to rap but if you find the great part of that song and flip it your now starting to build your music skills up. i hope some of that help.

don't change your style up if you think it's good, but be versatile, have some that follow the mainstream to get people to listen, and then introduce your style to them, look at n.e.r.d.,alot of people didn't know neptunes had their own group, and the style is a little off the wall, but after they got established in main stream more people started hearing about them(even though i don't really think they caught on)but i still bet their record sales went up for the group.basically if your origanal keep doing your thing, and expand the sound of urban music

good to see you making moves bigd -- as for the sounds of tomorrow -- the first thing that came to mind was exactly that -- tomorrow -- a new day -- a new sound -- something anticipated yet unknown as of today

it's good to have influences because we all do -- but take a piece from each of your influences and incorporate it into your own style -- that's what makes you original and gives you the sounds of tomorrow -- immitation is what keeps us stagnant

truth told- that eminem comment was an opinion of yours. great.
I aint holding a torch for the boy, and aint trying to clown you, but that comment was ridiculous.

his tracks are dramatic as hell, and the sonics involved are insane.
c'mon now, dog....

i dont believe in calling producers who are doing big things "wack" or "weak".

they are in a postition that we all want to be in.

Obviously, they are doing something right.

oh...and I'm feelin' what innercityhoodmusic is saying

you know what drew? your little tirade right there was rediculous. "that was your opinion. great...... that comment was rediculous" first of all, yes, that was my opinion, and we all have opinions, dont we? just like you had yours about my comment. innercity just posted a thread about not taking things personal, but i have to say when you come off lik eyou did its hard not too. what you think about a particular subject is cool but dont go telling me my views are " rediculous" simply because you dont see it my way.

as far as you dont believe in saying people are weak artists, well, kudos for you!!!! i dont feel that way, and its your views for whatever reason that determines why you see it that way, and thats just fine and dandy with me- but it doesnt mater if it is or isnt fine with me or not AND THATS THE POINT.

so, come on now, "dog", have a little more respect than that.

hahahaha.

"dog" is what we call our friends down here....

and what "tirade" are you talkin' about...I'm in total control of my emotions...lol

how old are you?

All in all, it's ignorant to say that a producer is weak, when you haven't accomplished 1/10000000th of what he has.

Basically, your argument was not valid. :whiner:

here you go. dont worry, be happy:
