What is Hip Hop in its True form??

I got one comment for those (nobody in particular) that think hip-hop isn't what it was...If hip-hop isn't what it was, then it's not hip-hop anymore. Nothing evolves to anything that changes its origin. MAN has evolved but he's still a MAN. The EARTH has evolved but it's still the EARTH. Even if it appears to have evolved into something else, it's origin is what keeps it what it is. Take a butterfly for example, eventhough it was once a caterpillar it never changed its origin. It was destined to be a butterfly at some point if it lived long enough and butterflies still make caterpillars. Hip-hop has evolved, the appearance is different, the sound is different, even the culture is different...BUT...Just as MAN, EARTH, BUTTERFLIES and HIP-HOP have evolved, they still are what they were because of their origins. I can't make it any clearer.

i see where you are coming from decalion but i desagree.

when something changes, often it is given a different name.

take a cup of WATER. if you freeze it, it is called ICE. no longer is it WATER. Yes, it is WATER in ESSENCE.....but because its form has been changed, it has a different name and different capabilities.

Hiphop in its true form is simply the expression of the original message of Hiphop. Thats what taking it back to the roots means. taking it back to the roots doesn not mean making a particular style of beats or whatever, it is about expressing the values of Hiphop....which essentialy is POSITIVITY. Hiphop was invented to give troubled youth on the streets another direction to take away from all the violence. Thats how Hiphop started.

So if somone comes out and makes a break beat and spits a rap over it which promotes hate, murder or something similar...it is NOT Hiphop. And it is especially not Hiphop just because of where he got the idea from.
