I went on the site and it was all messed up. Did it get hacked or something? If it did, good job fixing everything Fade.

most sites of this size run what is call a content management system. All the information is stored in a database, most likely a mysql database. If i where to guess I would say this site runs on a apahce web server running php and mysql. Sometimes you need to update the database to add features and such. Does that help?
