BiggChev

My nickname from childhood is Chevy (yes, like the car…it’s a long story). Growing up I was always the tall kid.

BiggChev was bestowed on me by my friends and cousins. “You don’t know Chev? The Big guy?” In the spirit of Snoop, you had to have to double Gs.

That changed in high school when I peaked at 6’1” and the rest of the basketball team hit their growth spurts. In later years the “Bigg” was more a reference to my waist line lol.

My other moniker “StormBourne” is a reference to my legal name and my vocation. I studied meteorology and minored in climatology. When I decided on the StormBourne name, GoT was also really popular…so it felt relevant at the time.

Curious, how did you decide or end up
With your moniker?!

I wanted to set a goal to live up to, so I set the bar high.
Now I feel the name is big headed and arrogant, so have been considering changing it for a while.

Shorten to 2G? I feel like we’re from similar eras where you had to have some bravado in your name. Even for me, Bigg was like a “I’m bigger and better than you” adjective. Rate the name but Opiod Dave slaps too lol

I went through a tonne before settling on Iron Keys.

Then when I finally landed on it it's the one I kept the longest so it stayed.

At the time, I was massively into old Kung Fu movies (OGs here will remember my Bai Mei avatar).

Obviously, common in those Kung Fu films (and real life) were concepts of "iron palm" "iron shirt" "iron fist" etc, so I combined it with something in music --- as I used a lot of piano in my productions, typically heavy staccato stabs, "Iron Keys" made a lot of sense and had the nicest ring to it.

I had also toyed with the idea of "Iron Fingers", but it didn't have as good a ring and sounded more like a DJ name. I also had a few other Kung Fu related names I was toying with. (May keep for a side project)

In recent times I've considered changing it, dunno if I've outgrown it or if it has a timeless/current/modern enough vibe. Dunno if it needs to. But haven't thought of anything, so...

Fade

For me it was my heavy metal friends in high school that gave me the name for some reason. I think it was because at the time there was the hi-top fade hairstyles lol who knows.

One day it was just MC Fade. Then when I started DJing I became DJ Fade. Then as I got older it's MisterFade.

But deep down in my bones I know I'm truly just Fade aka the Pussy Repellent!
