You may have a strange one than man, I have never had the fan noise be to much. Have you tried using canned air to blow it out? That may help. And yes they are custom Seagate drivers that Glyph uses but the design all the cooling systems and of course there warranty alone is worth it. But you do pay a bit extra for it.

Thanks guys. Dac I'll definitely make sure they give me a demo... You're right, it's not worth dropped 300 and then finding out it's too loud. I'm gonna go check one out today I think.

Testing & Performance

Even during some of our longest sessions with the 062, we never found that the drive experienced heat build-up issues, despite the heavy enclosure and internal power supply. However, the drive is not exactly silent, especially when booting up, so it is advised to place the 062 in a well-ventilated, yet sonically shielded, area of your studio.

LMAO who would have thought that changing a hd would be such an issue? Im even finding it hard to talk ish about something I own but I'm telling you from first hand experience.

dp said "I must have a strange one...", if his is quiet, then HE has the strange one...lol. "Have I ever blown it out with canned air?" hahaha! Glyph hard drives are known for the noise. Geeeeeez!
