If we are a site of professional beat makers then we should act like professionals. If we are judging a beat and it isn't mixed properly and the other is but both are still kinda whack then vote for the beat that was mixed the best. If both beats are not mixed and are whack then vote for the best "sounding" beat. When the results are tallied and we see who made what lets all try to give constructive criticism. Its up to the advanced producers here to help the next person up, regardless if they won or not. If you lost and someone tells you about your beat take the criticism like a man and take it for what its worth. No one here is SwissBeatz or Dr. Dre but i can assure you that from this point on I will be giving my opinion on beats that i think i should and I hope the same is done for me in the process. I mean we already have a section where we can get feedback but its not competitive so i think no-one takes it as serious.

What if one beat is well mixed but is whack, and the other isn't greatly mixed but is dope....??

We be professional about it. Whack is really a POV. But if a beat is well put together thats still the beat im going to vote for because of the skill needed to mix. If a beat is dope but isnt mixed well then to me its still not dope. I have heard a lot of dope music that was distorted beyond help. Distortion, out key 808's dont make for a good sounding beat even if the concept is dope. Ill still vote for the beat that was mixed well even if i dont really care for the overall vibe.

Well I couldn't find any specific judging criteria for Warzone, other than twice mention about the fact this is a Hip-Hop site.

But I'd assume it suggested to follow a similar criteria to Beat This! which reads...

What the judges will be looking for is originality, creativity, mixing skills and overall dopeness!

25% Originality
25% Creativity
25% Mixingskills
25% Overall dopness

Some of you are sounding like you're basing close to 100% of your vote on 25% of the criteria.

Personally I kinda judge mine based on what jumps out to me makes me move makes me feel;

For me it starts with overall dopeness and ends with overall dopeness.
then I look a the other 75% of the criteria, as well as the mixing, which is only 25%.

Some of you sound like you base 90+% of your vote on mixing alone; in which case, we should just decide who the best mix engineer on the forum is and you can vote for them by default in every battle. Because their mix will always be the best.
'cause at current you're going 'oh well, this is mixed better, so, fuck 25% Originality, fuck 25% Creativity, fuck 25% Overall dopness, fuck 75% of the criteria'.

In the end, vote for what you like, but remember the majority of the people arguing against me are the ones who agreed that they felt voting results aren't what they feel are 'right'.

It's nothing personal either - I didn't even enter this battle!

Stay ill

@Iron Keys You base all of your voting off of "feel." Don't pretend that out of tune 808's and poorly mixed beats sound good because you "hear the potential" that's messed up. The reason we argue against you is because we know musically when something is incorrect and wrong. How does a beat that's poorly mix and has notes being played on a synth that aren't even in the right key of the song win against a beat that's in tune, is mixed perfectly, is dope etc.
No matter the perceived dopiness, it's never going to be dope if it sounds like shit.

"Oh I see what he was going for. I feel like he was going for some sort of JayZ Beat. Okay Ill vote for him because I have a poster of JayZ in my room. The beat I'm dancing to in my head sounds so much better than what I'm hearing in my speakers right now, but hey, I love JayZ! If this beat was mixed by Chris Lord Alge then it would win. Fuck it lets vote for it. it Has potential. "

What the fuck?

No one cares how you vote. You've only done 10 competitions and you've been on here a lot longer than I have. You have a TOTAL of 21 points. I've done 9 and have 46 points. Whats up?? Numbers speak. Maybe you vote the way you do because you're upset. You realize you're not on the same level. Just join more competitions monkey boy and stop talking.

I never said that. ease off the hallucinogenics

When did I say anything about voting for musically 'wrong' tracks? That's compositional not mixing. I said only in regards to mixing. too much mandy got you all confused

You've only done 10 competitions and you've been on here a lot longer

Yeah I was away 10 years or something, go cry to fade. I've only entered 1 comp.

Get yourself some chamomile tea, put your blanky on and calm down. Clear you're fuming that your electro-pixie-core edm got sent packing by @Drago Zetić 's ill Hip-Hop beat. :guillotine:

Yeah non mixed beats don't feel good. And you think they do because they have "potential to sounding good."
Everyone read this fools messages in the beginning.

Sounds good to me, except I can't get monkey boy to compete. Can't slay you if you don't compete.

I said they're ones that sound good. Sound + feel. There are commercial records with huge mix errors but still great records. Every beat I've voted for here has been a really good beat. I'm not gonna not vote for a beat 'cause someone thinks its snare is 0.5dB too loud.

Similarly I'm not gonna vote for a shit beat beat regardless of how well or not it's mixed.

A shit beat that is well mixed is a shit beat :cocaine:

@Iron Keys @GoldenBoy Are you guys serious? You've been arguing with each other for a few days now. XDDDD

I will try to present my point of view on this matter despite the fact that I didn't even participate in this battle.

With all due respect to you @Iron Keys I have to say that your "battles for the right voting system" or "right results" (let's call it in this way) become more and more tiring.

Literally, under almost every competition you complain about the results pointing out that you voted for the beats that didn't get either to runner-ups or finals. And despite the fact that this matter was discussed in a separate thread created by @Fade who as the administrator decided that voting system we have now is the best one you still keep on arguing about the results. I have to agree with @GoldenBoy no one cares how you vote because the way you perceive music is individual to you. What you consider to be dope will not be dope to someone else.

Such arguments are completely pointless as it is just a waste of energy and time. I remember time when I had an argument with TACTIK and I also assaulted @Beatmaker88. Why did I do that? Because egocentric Mr Memento Beats was unhappy about the result and that he lost to Beatmaker88. Later on I apologised to him in ILL Battle Report but argument with TACTIK was also pointless and silly.

Why are such arguments pointless?

First of all, these battles are just for points. All you get by winning them are points and some sort of confirmation that you have or may have skills in beatmaking. An ego boost. Nothing else. It should be done for fun and when I recollect how I acted in the situations I mentioned above it was just pathetic and stupid. Besides it's really stupid and funny to some degree when you see two grown man arguing and spending time on discussion about the results of some battles for points. :woot: For real? It's not worth it at all.

Aside from that it stripes the winner down of that little moment of happiness. Because you win and later on you read in the comments "Meh, I voted for a beat that didn't even qualify to be a runner-up. This is stupid. Blah, blah, blah".

Secondly, as I mentioned above everybody has different taste and the fact that you lost or didn't make it doesn't mean that your beat is worse or something. I also don't understand results of some contests here but I don't comment anymore on it as I perceive them only through the prism of my taste and personal feelings. And no one cares what I like or don't like so it's pointless.

Thirdly, you @Iron Keys points out that you look for sound+feel and that you don't necessarily look for mixing. Why did you complain on Discord about the quality of beats from one of the guys here then? I remember clearly it was in general section of that server and you said "his beats sound as if they were made in the era when sampling was very hard and someone put a tape recorder and recorded sounds from it." Didn't you look for "potential" then? What happened?

You pointed out that @GoldenBoy beat lost because it was an EDM track. No, it wasn't. It was a trap beat in very modern style and with very clean mix. Btw @GoldenBoy props to you for that drop at 0:16. It was beatiful in my opinion. :D But I also like beat by @Drago Zetić as it had something in it.

Concluding, @Iron Keys nobody stops from posting your opinions here as it is a forum and you are allowed to post whatever you want but such comments that you voted for Beatmaker A and complaints about results are really wack. Besides this matter has been discussed numerous times and I'm not the only one who thinks that you really overdo with questioning results as I've seen other members of this forum arguing with you about this topic.

Now, I'm coming back to enjoying my break from beatmaking. :D

I'm wrapping this up, the argument is endless and all points have been made. We had a thread a few months ago that went on forever so I had to close it because it was pointless.

Just a note though: as @Memento Beats has said, by arguing about voting after every battle, that just takes away any sort of recognition for the person that won which is not cool. So this has to stop. These battle threads are to discuss the battle, review the beats, get amped up, etc.
