I gotta admit, it is nice seeing a more equal trap type to boom bap type in the lineups... some really nice beats in here fellas, props to the producers and some really nice mixes.

Been a struggle to vote, 2 beats head 2 head where so diverse from each other and equally good. Took a few listens to finally decide. This should be close, some real nice beats here
I am just not a big fan of the ones you can tell used a prefab drum loop, dont know why it gets me wrong, but it does. Can tell when the pattern never changes at all, no hat or snare solo, no rolls... just nothing. Good beat and all, not taking away from it sounding good, just makes me put my vote for the one who did make their own drum line. Makes me wonder how much of it is actually "Theirs". Am I being petty or overthinking it?

Nah I get ya man. I literally thought about this today like I usually ‘play’ every instrument on my MPC pads and of course sometimes chop a sample but still ‘play’ that sample.
Some producers do simply drag and drop loops into an arrangement on screen and boom done.
Not a dig or anything, each to their own and all but for me even i like creativity over clean and simple.
There is also a difference between people simply using loops compared to then manipulating and arranging them into a whole new beat of their own.
Either way I’m a noob still so no complaints here

@Mahlhavoc again man I get you but when you stated ‘how much of it is actually theirs’ we can all go down the rabbit hole with that one as sampling or use of any kick, snare, piano key, string, bass etc that we use is not really ours.
All sound and instruments to make sound was designed by people before us so I say doesn’t matter what you use if it sounds like a good beat to you then vote for it. We can all get too caught up in it.
I’ve used a melodic loop, chopped it up and made it my own but sometimes that loop might be perfect for someone and then play their own drums or whatever over it.
