So... discovered that maybe only 2 of the beats I voted for progressed as winners. (And they were perhaps the obvious "only choice" two)
Dunno if this is interesting or not, as it's not strange to be a bit surprised and perplexed by the outcome of voting in this battle.
I'm thinking maybe a "better" or more typically balanced mix or production got voted for - but ime, some of those really sounded emotionally dull.
Would be interesting to listen to this back on proper monitoring and see if and by how much my opinion differs.
I don't think there is ever an "obvious choice" for some voters. Sometimes it's about personal taste, and other times I think they are listening on PC desktop speakers from 1988. The results are generally as expected in most cases, but are certainly.some wildcards from time to time. I never know if I'm going to win or not. I just talk the talk because it makes me feel better at the time. For example, IMO beat 31 is the most distorted and pushed into the red beat in the whole battle that it makes me wonder what they are using for monitors. I'm not trying to shit talk or put anybody down, that's just my honest opinion, and if you cant hear what's going on properly you don't know if something is really distorted as you don't have the means to be able to hear it then it's not really your fault. We cant all afford decent monitors, it took me many many years to sort my monitoring out, so I understand the struggle and the reality. But it can skew results when voting based on a poor listening environment. It is what it is, so why it's best not to take it all too seriously. Especially when its just for points. If there was a few grand at stake then yeah, take it really seriously, but there isn't. Have to remind ourselves its just for fun and personal growth and getting more experience,.and becoming better at your craft while saving up for the tools that really help.
