What is Tony Blair doing. He waits until the election is over so we have five years to wait before we have a say agian, to try and push through controvestial bills through without the consultaion of the public. The aforementioned bill, is a fucking disgrace. IT curbs our most basic human right, FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Now, fair play, on the Incitement to RACIAL hatred bill, as attacking someone because they are from a different country, or a different skin colour, is utterly deplorable, but to not be able to question somebody on their beliefs, a BODY OF IDEAS, is completely ludicrous. I should be able to tell a muslim, a jew, a christian, a sikh, a hindu, a jane that in my opinion thier beliefs are wrong. i am not attacking the person, but his ideas.

If this bill is passed, then what next, "Im not a fan of the Labour Party, i dont believe in left wong policies."

"well, i dont care, your going to prison my son."

you see an attack of ideas shoul ALWAYS BE ALLOWED AND JUSTIFIED

It looks to me as if the western world is slipping down the slipery slope, to autonomy, and dictatorships, that, " are in the best interests of the people."

BOLLOX to that mate, id rather be dead.

Its a very sad sistuation, it actually seems as if the government means well [!!!] in trying to enforce these laws, but it will undoubtedly enfringe basic human rights and freedom of expression.

I'm sure everyone on this forum knows and believes that prejudice and racism is wrong, but you should be allowed to think what you want - it's part of human nature to have conflicting opinons, and people should be able to accept that they have different beliefs or opinons and get on regardless - thats pretty much wat living in a comunity of people entails. Obviously there may be a very small minority who take advantage of freedom of speech to induce hatred against certain races/ethnicities or belief groups, but I doubt these laws would be able to stop someone who truly wishes to target a certain group anyway. AND on top of this, there are already laws in place making it illegal to incite hatred against Jews or Muslims [and some other groups too] - basically I believe they are utterly pointless.

exactly...

we dont need a religious haterd bill, as we already have a racial hatred bill, just more beaurocracy and red tape, from a failing labour government, intent on spending our hard earned taxes....

i mean this ruling is neither here nor there at the moment it depends how it is interpreted, one view is that its going to stop religious hate, and attacking people because of their religion which can only be a good thing, i wouldn't have thought that they will be locking people up for civilaised debates on a persons religion !
