What is a good amp to get for a turntable. I don't need a mixer for two turntables, just for one for home use?

I would just get a cheap DJ mixer - try Stanton, Numark

Even though you dont have/need a mixer for 2 tables, you will still get a crossfader, and who doesn't want to learn some dope scratches!

I am glad you brought that up. I can't scrathe for shit. I want to learn bad as hell. Cats down here in this area don't have that under their belt. I want to add that to my skills.
I bought two Numark turntables from Musician's friend for 300 bones and them joints are collecting dust. I want to put them to use. Help me out DJs and scratchateers.

Go out and pick up a copy of DJ Qbert's Do It Yourself scratch dvd VOLUME 1. It will teach you all you need to know to start off with. Once you learn a bit; you'll want to get rid of those Numarks and get you some real turntables; i.e. 1200's or PDX 2000's.

Yea, I got volume 1 & 2, it really breaks down all kinds of different cuts, and it is explained very well...

Just watch that shit over and over, theres a lot of cool different functions on that dvd...

Yeah I was thinking that the turntables had something to do with it too.....

turntablelab.com should have it. Also, this is completely about scratchin, but you should pick up the movie "SCRATCH" its like a documentary on hip-hop and turntablism. It might give you some ideas and you can learn some shit off it.

And on the subject of gettin new tables, i started scratchin since before i was makin beats and ive used the belt-drive STR8-50's for 2 years and im still doin fine on them. I only needed to replace the belts once, but it was fine after that. And learning on belt-drives will probly help you be light on the tables when your scratchin, and that will help a lot.

Make whatever decision you want, but stickin with the numarks aint a bad idea imo.

That film is amazing - it involves such a wide range of artists..from Premo to Dj Shadow and it touches on some really important issues.
Anyway; I have to get myself to get myself a proper turntable; At the monent I've got a record player which I use simply for recording stuff on vinyl onto my computer.

yo, if you want an amp anything by cambridge audio, especially the A range i got an A5 65w per channel 5 or 6 channels, bi wiring capability, and in either fetching silver or traditional black, all are standard rack size as well....

DJ mixer - Numark have got a new one out with a USB input/outputs, USB is apparantly a better connection than phono cables...
