Triplets !

that sounds like a flam to me son, im talking about triplets, 3 hits in between each quarter instead of say two like a half note. EG. 1/2 notes are like ONE and TWO and THREE and FOUR and, whereas triplets are counted like ONE trip - let TWO trip - let THREE trip - let FOUR trip - let - you will hear this in alot of heatmakerz beats and old doo-wop songs and shit

I'm not exactly sure I know what you're talking about, but can't you play them yourself and then quantize if you're off a little bit? Even if you don't have a midi controller, you could either find the note on the keyboard itself, or play any key and then move it using the piano roll...sorry...I'm not into music theory too much, I can read notes, but I play random keys until I like something

yo man, just make 24 step patterns instead of 16 steps. 16/(4 beats) = 4 steps per beat with 4 beats, 24/(4 beats) = 6 steps per beat with 4 beats. now you can place an 8th every third rather than second step. (this takes some working with and practice to get used to, but trust me, you can get that triplet swing goin on with this)

I didn't know you could set the step pattern past 16, at least when I put the step pattern on 24 or something like that. It still goes to 16. You'll have to tell me how to go about doing that fam.

I think you could achieve what you want by changing the time signature i.e. 3/4

maybe do that in a different project and export it as a wav and then bring it in your existing project..

use the piano roll........... or the swing function... you can get a triplets swing by 'swinging' the swing control one third of the way up (not particularly easy to explain). also if you use a ppqn of 96
just shift shit around (slide in sonar) by 8 or 16 pulses........ afraid i probably haven't explained well but fruity loops can achieve ALL THE DIFFERENT SWING SHIT if you learn how

I figured it out ! I never saw an option for time signiture until I loaded up FL5 and it was right there. Just change it to 1/3 Beat and the snapping in the piano roll will change to triplets !

yeah or u can chop a note on the piano roll up to like 6 hits in one step...
