well Mpd 16 Felt kinda Stiff pads were hard took some time to break them in to soften them up but still not soft enough

you should all also check out the roland octapad on ebay it goes real cheap and can also be used as a trigger to midi interface (i use this for recording live drums have triggers on kick snare and toms means you can sample your own drums with your mics so you'll have room sound and live kit sound and then mix alot more accurately)
but yeh i think they're under $200 us
