I will send a cheque to anyone on here that actually thinks they can tell the difference between a beat done on an mpc and a beat done in FL or Pro Tools or any other software combinations.

Ill take that bet...Seems to me , and maybe because some of the songs I hear are by newbies on software, that there IS a difference in sound between an MP and FL..Maybe its just me but alot of times I CAN hear if something is done in a software program...(not to ignore the fact that an MPC is a software OS with pads)

Well u can definitely tell an FL beat if its someone whose not as knowledgeable in the program as a 4 year veteran.. Especially if they are using the FL stock sounds.

but yea Me and solace did a collab where i laid the melody in reason and he banged out the drums from the MP i think so yea

These few months have been difficult for me to trying to learn FL after using trackers for few years. Slowly I've started to get it tho.

When it comes to hardware... I'd love to have somekind of an hardware sampler to give my samples a unique sound. Maybe combo like MPC + (some SP series sampler) + cubase + midi keyboard + lots of VST-Is would work for me best. But really I've started to fall in love with ASR-10 sound... maybe someday when I get the money :D

i feel the pain of hardware but at the same time u get a vibe off of actually bangin ur drums ur self than just penciling them in ..theres a big difference when ur making beats and u constantly got the music bumpin cuz u hittin ur sounds urself than keep stoppin the sequencer cuz u gotta bring it back so ur samples can play.

u got that problem on FL but ima reason cat..YEA I SAID IT REASON

eh? wha? that was me attempting to shit on FL, i guess i did it poorlly, cuz i do not use FL. I'm a reason head. well known :)

Long Live Reason, its the nuts.

Its so versatile, espescially since they brought in the Combinator.
I live by it. I stick to software, Id love to make the switch to hardware but that shit is so expensive. For just a couple of fx plugins in reason could cost the same price as reason if not more in there hardware form. Then theres synths and samplers and drum machines, unless you get a good mpc, then there comes samples. I try to use the factory reason samples as much as possible, but they are lacking in good drum hits. A problem easily sorted, especially when there are people like Sanova around. Anyway Im still trying to get my head around mastering to get the most out of the sounds, when you get that right I believe it really doesnt matter what you use to make the beat. Its all in the ears at the end of the day, and in the stomache too, when the bassline is trying to rip it out. Getting a tune bang is a matter of tuning the ears, and getting to know your best samples, that comes down to experience.
