I got a question about doubling hihats in fl studio (ie, in every 36mafia song). I know there's different functions like "chop" to try to accomplish this, but i've been having trouble with it for a minute. Then there's something bout higher bpms, ahhh...the confusion. Hope yall can help with this, thanks. Also, are there certain vsts/programs that would help with this?

im not exactly sure what u mean here as i havent heard much of 36mafia but i think u r after really quick hat hits. try the piano roll and draw in 1/4 beats for ur hats then copy to the rest of ur pattern. otherwise the fruity delay or fruity delay 2 is good for that sort of thing. does that answer ur question??

It doesn't matter what tempo the track is, all they do is put a hihat every 16th instead of every 8th of a bar, as far as sequencing software goes, its called "quantizing". There will be an option in FL Studio to customize this feature, just look at the top of your drum map or drum sequencer for quantizing options, it goes from 1/4 to 1/64, these are the measurements of the music bars broken down gradually into smaller sections.

The hihat sounds faster because it plays back more often. Its all got to do with where you place the hihats on your drum map. Some of those 3-6 Mafia tracks are only made at 96-98bpms but the hihats are placed closer to each other, so the track can sometimes sound faster to someone less aware of this basic production technique.

Hope that helped... peace,
