Yeah, I noticed that all the full version DAWs are up there in price. I've been using cubase SE since 04 or 05 I bought either for $99 or $120, and recently Live Intro a few months ago for $99. Im also still using the m-audio 2496 pci card, so its beyond time to upgrade to a new interface. Im looking at the new Mbox $549, whenever I can sell my mpc1000.

I have not been able to play with one yet, but my friends at SW tell me the new Mboxs are nice.

and Native VST support, not gonna happen. Every developer supports RTAS for the most part. There is no reason to support VST.

don't waste your money on an mbox... you will get much more for your money from a presonus or motu interface. The apogee duet is actually probably the best for the money, and 10x the quality of the mbox for the same price, if not less. Can't beat apogee converters, Avid's will never stack up.

But the Mbox comes with Pro tools something that will cost $600 on its own.
Here's the deal...if you own a mbox and purchased it from Sweetwater, you can buy PT9 for $250. If you buy a brand new mbox from them you WILL NOT get PT9, you'll get PT8 but you can get PT9 for an additional $250. In the very near future, you will not be able to get PT at all with the purchase of a mbox. So if you've purchased a mbox, your best bet is to pay the $250 for PT9, if you haven't you will have to pay $599 for it.

Yeah I'm not really feelin this move at all. Though the new mbox's are better in quality, I don't feel it justifies this move. I bought a mbox not for the interface but for Pro Tools only...lol. Pro Tools 9 will sell but I think they are gonna take a hit on the mbox's.
