The Canadian Hip Hop Scene

Who here agrees that the canadian hip hop scene is gay as fuck and every1 sucks. Someone hot needs to blow up for real...mabey its just this way in vancouver but i donno thats just how i feel

LOL. I don't know about Vancouver's scene, but for the longest time Montreal's scene hasn't been that great. Sure, there's some dope MC's/DJ's/Producers here but the one thing I've noticed for the past decade (at least) is that most of the artists are just doing their own thing, not helping others in the same city.

Lately it's been getting better with some nice collaborations but overall they need to make some big moves rather than stick to coming out with what's refered to as "local" material.

The other problem with Canada's scene is that the record labels here don't care much or don't have the money/resources to push the artists. So the Canadian artists are left with next to nothing to work with. That and the Juno's LOL.

Ya, the Canadian scene has been lagging for a few years now... aside the usual big names (Swollen, Kardinal..) there really hasn't been anyone stepping up to the plate.

More often than not, local artists only get local exposure (minimum to none) so it's a tough business to.

It seems a bit dull right now, but who knows, maybe there will be some light at the end of the tunnel. With sites like ILLMUZIK expanding the borders of hip-hop, maybe more people will tune into different flavors (not just canadian or american)

ok, Kardi's makin some moves, wit the Neptunes and such. But here's my problem with that, KARDI: IF YOUR GONNA USE A NEPTUNES BEAT, PLEASE OH PLEASE USE A GOOD ONE!!!!

Belly Dancer gives me a headache...SERIOUSLY....worst Neptunes song ever recorded, by far!!!

I was really excited when Nelly Furtado was hunted down by Timbaland and they did some tracks, but after her latest release Folklore, that's all been tossed down the drain!! Has anyone listened to her latest album?? It's just like the title says, Folk music. I get it, you have culture and ethnicity in your bones, but the album was very dissapointing.....BTW, I know her brother-in-law....I told him to give her shit from me....dont think she cares tho!!

There are some Canadian artists with LOTS of talent but they don't have many people pushing them. One of my favorites right now is Rikoshay. Man's got talent. His first single/video Won By One is pretty good too. But besides Toronto and some other parts in Canada, he has no pull.......We need someone to break through!! Or maybe Canada is doomed to be breeders of rock/punk music forever


BTW...I love Avril Lavigne, and Sum 41's music is pretty dope too, but its still not hip hop!!!
