I bought the akai mpd16 yesterday and I love it. I usta use the mpc 2000 some years ago, maybe 5 or 6 years. No lie, I loved it. The only thing I didn't like about it was the time it took to load sample, exspecially if you was using floppies. If you've never used the mpc before, you might not understand what I'm about to say next, and it may be hard on the ears of people who only use the mpc aswell. In FLstudio, you can emulate the mpc series almost all the way down to the bones. The only thing that I found impossible to do with FLstudio is Tap Tempo. However that are tap tempo program out there, but none that can direct link to the software and control the programs tempo by tapping. I've the people at FLstudio for this along time ago, but they said it wasn't a high priority. You really have to know the way that the mpc sequences and the different ways you can sequence in FLstudio. With the Mpd 16, that just added the finishing touch on emulating the mp. The pads are great, and they have some controls on it that you will find on a mpc. However, you don't need them using Flstudio, you don't even need to load stuff in the sample banks, If you use FLstudio, you must get a mpd16, it has better timing with than Keyboards which I have a Korg, and certainly better timing than using your computer keyboard, Just because you can trigger it more accurate.
