ok well,
i try and keep my hip hop listening limited these just for spiritual reasons. trying to maintain a Christian walk and be an example to a lot of these kids i am around is hard when i got the f word coming out the mouth of my favorite rapper who happens to be a muslim (dont trip, i'm just sayin it makes others question my walk and dedication to it. long story. it has nothing to do with islam itself.).... and then go and teach the next night. basically, its just conflicting to me personally sometimes.
its a lil hard because the artists that inspire me dont share my faith.
so i try to listen to some good, clean, christian hip hop. .. . .. . . .. . .. . ... . . . . and it just aint happening.
not to mention..............
last night, at church, these two kids, um, rapped, er.... READ from a frigin piece of paper their rhymes.... same as last week. plus they were mad stereotyped "bling bling" with the fake chins and all andexagerated head nodding and everything... and last week when i met them the first time, even though they sucked horribly, (they were THAT bad...) i was like, "hey, its all in the name of ministry and at the very least at least its positve" and so i went up to them tryin to be cool and all, and showed them my beats and they were like uh, yeah thats cool... and then quickly switched back to some wack boss dr 5 (sometihng like that) beat..... dude has a korg d1200 and a $200 drum machine... makes no sense whatsoever.... and the other guy was bragging about how he makes beats but he just forgot to bring his and how his friend has this dope studio and he has his masters and "three sythesizers and two beat machines" although he couldnt tell me what they were.....
so he asked me what i have and i said "my computer". his jaw just about hit the floor after that.
and they kept on playing their retarded little beats and treated me like mine were some ameteur b.s..............
what the hell happened? are my beats that bad? what the hell?
then i got real indignant about it (didnt say anything... i'm gettin real good at holdong my toungue these days...) and felt like, "hey, im doing YOUR WACK little crew A FAVOR just by trying to network with you!" i felt so insulted...
and then i thought, '"YUP. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE LAUGH AT CHRISTIANS, ESPECIALLY CHRISTIAN RAPPERS."
any of you ever come across something like this? where someone completely wack brushes you off and basically disses you when you are trying to be cool despite the fact you know they are wack and still show love?
needless to say i left a little discouraged. so i'm wondering, would/will still suport me even though i am a christian and all my music wil reflect that? i dont really believe in every rhyme talking about moses... because these guys make me not even want to present myself as a believer.
