Yea man! Finally someone comes out of there shell... I used to be a big graf writer... Unfortunately, now all we do in this city now is sketchbooks (cops locked the shit down!). Anyways, i wrote cYpHeR934, nEmR oNe, mEnSo, i had names for days but cYpHer was the one I did most of my damage with.. I never really was a peicer though, I was always the crazy kid climbing on top of shit to bust a fat burner or a dope outline... Them were the days,... I used to roll around bumpin a tribe called quest in my headphones and just sprayin away.. I got into it when i got into hiphop, when i was reallly young, my brother was an oldschool skater and used to tag his board up... That was my first exposure to it... But i started hittin shit up when i was around 11-12... SO technically i have been into it for about 7-8 years... But, i havent thrown somethin up in about 3 years due to all my homies gettin caught up and crews gettin into gang shit... The scene went down the drain, All the gangbangin cats loved the graf scene and started reppin crews like gangs n shit... Kids were gettin shot over it instead of battling, it was fuckin stupid... None of my work is able to get posted because there all pictures and i have no scanner so thats out of the question... But, i do have some shit i did on "paint" a long time ago... Hit me up if you wanna see it, it was some okay shit...

I started painting, when I was introduced to it by an elder friend who went around tagging. I then started tagging too, which was the only thing I did for a year. Then I hooked up with a crew, and I expanded my repetoire to outsides/tags on trains, bombing insides of trains, and throw-ups...after a little while I expanded again and filled out my throw-ups, started makin wall burners, and later panels and then wholecars, and was part of 1 wholetrain. in a short period our crew was quite big here.
I painted for 4-5 years, and stopped after I was caught the second time...as I started to think about my future.
I got rid of all my pictures some time ago.

i dont graff but i still take a bboy stance on the whole topic.

the thing that pisses me off to the max is how graff has been misunderstood by young hooligans who find fun in trashing other peoples shit. thats what gives graff a bad name....when kids go round scribbling wack shit for the sake of being a "rebel" (and a pathetic rebel at that)., i despise wack tags.

graff is art. taggin is aight if it looks phat and is done in an original style and you can tell the writer has flare but for me, piecing is where its at. thats where the most skill comes into play.

regarding it being against the law, its no wonder. the masses see graff to be a form of vandalism. of course it is going to be illegal. plus, your not supposed to draw on other peoples property.

the solution in my mind is to get the truth out there so more people will be in support of legal walls. i got much respect for fish and chip shops who allow their walls to be graffed. we need more of that.

untill then ya gonna have to sneak around or buy boards to piece on in your back yard.

I don't write any more because I didn't want to get caught, seein that I was hella up, I'm getting older, already caught a couple F's, and I figured I was already pretty damn good...

Figured I would just use my design skills for album covers and web-sites. So, that was when I really started makin beats, when I quit writing, figured it was time to move onto another element... which wasn't all that long ago...

Also, I'm a web-designer; so, I figured that my design skills would be useful for that...
I actually used to run a graff site called out4fame.com. Named after the KRS-One song by the same name... Hopefully, I'll be starting a new Graff site soon. It is in the planning stages right now.

As far as tags vs. pieces, I always saw it like this: Tags are just for other writers, Peices got more mass appeal. Usually only another writers will notice if someone has a sick handstyle or not and the public usually just sees tags as a nuisance... Even the commercial public will recognize the talent it takes to throw up a nice wildstyle burner. But I think to be a king, you gotta conquer all levels from handstyles to bombs to burners and beyond... There is nothing like the feeling of getting some illegals but I really like bein able to take the hours I need for a peice...

For any aspiring writers out there, you gots to stay in the lab too... Don't make your debut on some wack shit and definately don't be going over anyone that can burn you... Practice, practice, practice... I got many many full blackbooks... Just say no to toys!

thanks for the feedback guys, yea i am just getting into tagging and shit and i am doing my skectch book, like unown said i don't want to come in wack, so i am just practicing now then i will go out there and put up a hella good tag, and it is hella barn doors in the country but i stay in the city part of huntsville alabama, i just don't want to be caught by a klan member doing a burner on his barn door, i will be in some deep shit then.
so write now i am practicing and and learning the history of graffiti so if i meet a real griffiti artist he or she won't think i am some stupid poser.

also does anybody know what type of tips should i get when i start tagging.

Depends what kind of tag you are looking for: German Thins (Grey Ones) are always nice for thin lines but if you pull back you can vary thickness. NY Thins are cool for just a tag. If you are talking a tag, it doesn't really matter, just develop some can control, if you are talking for piecing, it depends on your style, but you can probably use about anything for the fill and I would use German thins for outlines and inners...

I used to tag back when I was in high school ( 5 years ago). Me and a couple guys ( damn don't even rember they tags anymore. Lol). We used to have a bench rite next to the principles office we callled da " writers bench". we would all meet there @ lunch time and go reak havoc on the school. Spray cans super broad and paint markers. We did pieces , tags, outlines, all dat. Damn lazy ass security never did patrols and when they did we woulld run and they was too fat/lazy to chase. Its not worth it to do graff (illegaly) now cause they cracked down hard in nyc. I still scribble in a sketch paid every now and then tho.
