^roflmao.... for real...

Anyone who's ever sampled a record owes Kool Herc.......and he would've been able to afford his own doctor bills....

He's probably owed about a trillion dollars.

dj360....I should be on that list of producers that are dope to you....just to let you know...

There's no purists shit going on, it's just a matter of good music vs. shit music. I prefer GOOD music, and good music to me just happens to be the classic 90's stuff. I do listen to today's stuff but I just don't like it at all. I try, trust me, I try. With all the music I hear every day from everyone on here to people just sending me links or actual CD's to check out, I try my best to keep an open mind, especially with Beats Weekly. But when I hear something that's wack, it's wack, period. I've heard wack 90's east coast boom bap shit, and I've heard awesome west coast stuff. Hell, 2 Live Crew's stuff was the shit in high school, I played that just as much as NWA.

So get off the purist shit, there's no such thing.

As for T-Pain, ya he's "talented" like Sucio said, in the fact that he's dope on hooks (for that type of style) but overall he gets a big thumbs down.

Coming from someone who came from the shadows to the foreground, Illmuzik is pretty heavy on the "Real hiphop" thing. Which is a taste that makes Illmuzik a haven for those that really appreciate the feeling of 90's hiphop, but it sometimes makes it come off as purist when threads like "I hate southern hiphop" or "All southern artist are garbage!!!!" come up sooooo often.

Its easy to think ILL is purist

Sure, but that's just the way the majority of the members are here, but there's no need to keep bringing up this tired topic since it's been done to death! We've had countless threads like that but there's such a wide range of music on here, some people just need to step back and approach the site again.

Got DAYUM I need to log in more often... WTH is the problem round chere?

Yo hiphop is hiphop, you may like a certain genre or not, I like the 90's east coast stuff and make that and I also like the southern stuff and make that.

Hell I compare ALL of it to rack, some are gonna say that the only real rock is the 50's original stuff, and some will say nooo its Zepplin only and some will fight that Death Metal is where its at all the while pop plays on the radio, we have egos that are too huge in this music...

Now everyone calm down and cuss each other out nicely or Im banning everyone starting with Fade.. DOnt make me do it , Im desperate!

I agree...there's a lot of 90's heads in here...mainly because of the ages of it's members....Most of us here has been around the block and have seen the evolution of a culture we hold very dearly to our hearts...sometimes people may get ticked because that culture is making a turn to something we're not really happy about (myself included).

Unfortunately for hip-hop..... It became a money maker. We wished that we could be rich off of hip-hop......but that came with the ultimate price....giving OTHER people control of what you put out... You couldn't see another group like NWA just killing the radio these days......

I am sad for that part.....but at the same time...hip-hop has become a worldwide culture shared by people of all races and creeds....that part I love so much about hip-hop....... But like everything...it must change to stay alive.......

Shit...look @ country music.... Compare a Dwight Yokum/Conway Twitty record to a Trace Adkins/Kenny Chesney record.... It all changes...You started seeing the transition with Kenny Rogers....That's why he became ....well...Kenny Rogers...

My fiance is kind of like us...she likes country music....but likes only the Dwight Yokum/Conway Twitty style.....says the new country is too popish and incorporate too much rock influence into the music.

I love the discussions...I don't like the name calling and the threats/insults incorporated with it......But these debates are needed...even if they come around every year and drag for 2 months....It's what makes this site what it is...and why I continue to come here.....

But like what my esteemed colleague Dac said in another thread....let's make some music..........Dammit...(I added the dammit)...

whats so crazy is that we are arguing about mainstream American Hip Hop... the rest of the countries across the globe love the 80's and 90's Hip Hop... that style of Hip Hop is alive and well... are they behind? possibly... but i think they will enjoy it much longer.

Many Americans have told me they love French Hip Hop, that it's so real and raw etc ... but they always refer to IAM, NTM and other acts from the 90's; they're not aware the Hip Hop scene has dramatically changed in Europe, it's so imitative of the US now.

I guess that's a good example (if only you could understand the lyrics ... truly pathetic).

That hurts my heart hahaha. This is crazy, Places overseas (like france for exa.) is where Jazz and alot of american artists were able to actually make, and live off music until america as a whole got on bored.

I knew about Frances hiphop scene and it was very 90's ish. Not to mention the fans are still fans (Not a collection of analysts, "haters", fair weather fans, etc) the love of music was still genuine. But this sucks, I was hoping it was still a haven there

Why is this so bad?

Is it because the production sounds like a dirty south joint or is it because of the lyrics? because I don't know what the hell he's saying...

In a nutshell he's saying he's a bad mofo, fucks black bitches everyday (breaking their backs in the process!), drives with no license because it's cool, "me and my homies we don't eat pork but we will fuck you up"..... pathetic

I can't say I'm in love with the production ....
