Just my observation, may be wrong. I'm open to that. I'm pretty certain over seas (Europe and Japan mainly) that underground hiphop has a bigger day to day impact and voice. Not that it's the main thing, but I feel like it is represented better than in the U.S. It seems like Canada also is heavily underground hiphop influenced. Is that the case?

Hip-hop in Canada has always been pretty low key. Lots of sleeper hits, but not a big audience.
