How important is it to have a subwoofer when making beats?

Good question. I have been thinkin about gettin one.
Possibly one more astute(ASS-toot) than ourselves can tell us....
Seems to me it would help when mixin lows.

So please sudgest one as well if you feel so inclined...

Yeah I know it's used to mix the low end but I wanna know if it's really necessary.

Well only if you wanna mix the low end really well.
lol I tell ya tho if you have good monitors no its NOT neccessary as in its detrimental to your mix
you just have to listen.
I donr have one and I dont think it destroys my ability to work.

not very important. i have maudio dx4's and i can get stuff mixed on there pretty good. if you can afford a good set and got no neighbours to worry about, get one.

Are the M-Audio Studiophile BX5's good enough?

i got one, and it's sort of a gift and a curse. it gives me extra sound, but alot of people say they cant hear some of the low end in my joints. it's more because the woofer produces extra bass that i take it down so when its played on regular monitors, its lacking
