SO finally I'm back after my final exams and a lot of hard work.

In a week I gon get my ass to cologne to buy some equipments.

And I gon make an album with my french Mc, we gon record everythang at my home, so I need some good advice to get a nice sound quality.

I got : my triton, an old yamaha synth and a drum machine.

I need 3 things :

- a new soundcard : something about 2000 euros

I read about protools hd but thaz way too expensive.

(At the moment I got that soundblaster extigy, it's pretty lame... sometimes there's a cracklin noise when I'm recordin... And there's no power.)

- a nice vocal mic for about 500 euros

I really don't know which mic... rhode or fame... ?

- that scsi card for the triton
I need more sounds and I would love to work with some nice sample cd's, especially with old analog synth sounds.

( -> Anyone got an triton expansion board??)

Remeber you can buy ProTools M-BOX (ProTools program and soundcard/midiinterface with zero latency)...it costs approx. Euroes 700 here...then all you need is a mic...

This is what I use for recording vocals and mixing songs...perfect sound.

Man I'm determined to do sth for real, so I gonn spend every damn penny in it =)

Why they gonn rip me off? they got the best prices and I will never spend my money on sth that I didn't want to.

But 700 euro is a bit cheap.
cause I don't want something that doesn't live up to my expectations. I don't expect any top notch sound but I want a powerful sound.

I think 2000 euro ain't too much If you want to do something for real. ?

okay, okay. go for it. personally I don´t think you will need to spend that much money.

but if you start to buy top quality stuff like that MAKE SURE you have the best cables, a silent computer, best monitors and a state of the art quiet case, because otherwise you won´t be able to experience that superb quality and all those things i just mentioned will fuck up the quality you´re going to pay a fortune for, so you probably might want to geht stuff like that before your taking serious financial steps.

and as far as talking ´bout musicstore cologne: they are good at giving their customers the feeling that they need a top of the art product to make decent music and that cheaper products sounds like shit. i´ve seen them selling an akai mpc 2000 xl to some guy, who only wanted a drumcomputer to program simple loops on so that he can play his guitar to it and practice!!!! i hate that store. you are right, the prices are okay, but appart from that they suck! but if you wanna spend a fortune on money like that

By the way, THomann has the MBOX for 444 EUR!!!!
Can´t do anything wrong with that because it already has focusrite preamps. just some input. hope it helped

Seriously, the M-BOX has zero latency and 100% clean sound.
I'd buy that and other/more gear instead for the money I had left...

Yeah thx but it would be hard to believe that for 444 euro I'll get something nice when I'm about to buy a mic for 500 euro.

You know I don't want to buy something that I gonn sell in about 1 or 2 years because I don't like it.

I like my triton and I can say that I will never use something else
so I don't want to buy something that I regret afterwards.

I bought that soundblaster extigy and I really regret it.

price = quality ? not really. depends on the purpose you are buying things.
you can buy an expensive mic, that can also be used to record accoustic guitars because it has all kinds of changable characteristics, but would you really need that? probably not. jsut some thought. if you think price=quality, then they´ll really fuck you up at musicstore. enjoy and thanks for supporting the german economy - we really need positive impulses like that right now ;-)

The extigy, soundblaster in general, is ok to just make beats with etc but is mostly manufactured to play MP3's, play games, watch movies on the PC etc...you can't really compare the two.

The M-Box is DigiDesigns 'cheaper' version and is an easy and portable Soundcard/Midiinterface but the quality isn't cheap.
I really see no point in you buying anything more expensive...but hey, if you feel like spending a lot of money on something that isn't really any better...be my guest.
