the verdict is, he rescheduled me for tuesday....
once i got there, after three hours of driving my buick with 200,000 miles on it.... after a thousand mile trip picking up my brother..... in the hot ass so cal summer.. with no air conditioning... and taking the day off of work and wasting 8 hours of vacation..... yup.
the saga continues i suppose, we'll see.. if i get stood up next week, im done with this cat and on to the next hustle, but i will be hustlin... regardless.

i got three tracks done with bosta that are getting mostly good reviews and three mercury waters tracks- 2 old, one new, and then a remix of a track wit hthis cat named Sin who is local... plus a slew of instrumentals...

he liked every mc i showcased-mercury waters, bosta, and my boy sin.
however, he had his critiques so it wasnt all hype.. but it was cool cause it was the honest opinion of a professional who wasnt just being a dick about it. it was all constructive. i appreciated that, and i am sure the artists i work with do too.
anyhow, he listened to 17 beats of mine.. he gave me critiques- need to be louder, crisper snares and cymbals, make the horns swell in a certain way, etc. then he picked out 6 that he wants to submit for the dilated peoples album, and gave me critiques to better them.
that was a huge sigh of relief. a group i like and have been fans of for 7 years or so. i was worried he would want the jiggiest of sounds and whatnot... but he dug it and wants to use me on their album.
now, of course, nothing is set in stone, i am only submitting them, and he says they are almost finished but have a few more tracks to go. they could theoretically pick 3-4 of them, or they could pick none. who knows. i am only at the submission stage... and these arent their typical tracks either.. but i digress.
he gave everything a fair shot, picked several that he really liked, and told me i had potential. the most important part of all of this is that i have that connection, that open contact. even if this doesnt pan out right now, i got valuable feedback and an open forum- anytime i got a set of new tracks, let him know, basically. once i get "in" and get that first track on an album though.......
all in all, this just FEELS GOOD. a lot of hard work, a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of sacrifices to get gear, it even cost me my girlfriend recently... so just getting this far feels like an accomplishment, i won somebody over in the biz. its a step in the right direction. i also have darcie to help me with a lot of the legal mumbo jumbo..... and i kept my manager contact, who i had a very positive conversation with recently. all in all the whole picture looks very good.
oh, and i got my first beat sale coming tomorrow as well.... west coast beat, traditional style ala battle cat and quik. should get me a couple notes for now. these cats are in on a lower level, but they can hook me up with major artists-daz, kurupt, suga free, etc. as well- but as features on my projects, although rolling with capitol now ups my credibility if i can get on this dilated album so i may be able to change that tune a lil bit.....
thats about it for now, guys and gyals. thanks for all the support ya'll have shown me thus far, i know this sounds like i already broke in and whatnot and nothing has actually happened yet but its the first major step in building a legit career and going from bedroom beatmaker to professional producer. i wouldnt have gotten this far withtout this site, and i mean that.... and classic, guevara, fade, freak, afriquedeuce, wings, merc, bosta, dantson, kojo, mad scientist, hoppa, stress, gyal, DARCIE, eury.... cats ive spoken real life with and worked with and joked with and gotten to know over these last two years..... thanks for being friends..... thanks for all the honest feedback... i hope i have been able to give even a fraction of what i have gotten here. if this happens, it is every bit a reflection of the commradery, knowledge, wisdom, and love of hip hop that this site has as much as it is my own talent and work ethic..
