i m trying to figure sumthin out

can i get the same results by recording vocals using a tube pre amp, then eqing and compressing in software after the signals already been recorded as i would recording with a pre amp, wit the eq and compressor built in

im askin bcause i def want to get a tube pre amp after hearing sum of my boys recordings wit one. but i was thinking if i do get one id have to buy a eq strip and a compressor strip to go with it, i know id be able to eq and compress in the software but would it be the same?

so my choices are either go wit this

I would look for a good none tube channelstrip and a tubemic. It would be smart to look for a channelstrip worthy of having more purposes than a mic signal path, so if the character free, say unbiased of sonic enrichment of any kind it becomes a more practial tool when you dont want a tube when routing a different signal through the strip. I really think tubes are the best thing when it comes to mics but then look for a tube mic instead and save up mucho, shit is costly and I wouldnt even waste a 129 bucks on behringer, but think of a more expensive module like a neve, focusrite whatever and save up for that. On the other hand I need to say that recording at home vs studio should raise a question about wether you need high end recording gear in a home studio, i mean, you pay a lot for use in an unsuitable environment and when you get big you record in other studios anyway. Like a sm58 on a good soundcard and some software does miracles, key is that when you want to record properly you just book a proper studio with nicey mic chain and work swiftly to save bucks.

ow yeah, rhode has nice cheap tube mics and I'm really impressed with the solidtube by akg which is also not to expensive.
