@Matt-D Trying to pinpoint what I find uncomfortable about this. Firstly I think its a bit heavy in the midrange and midbass. The midbass makes it sound a bit muddy and the midrange sounds too busy. When I listened on the speakers it sounded a bit cluttered like too much was going on, so Ive switched to the headphones. It sounds better in the headphones. You should cut the low end on the bass below 30 hz, this will give the rest of the beat more headroom to work in. You should also start messing with panning sounds, this will also free up some headroom and allow you to play sounds off each other from left to right and vice versa. There is a bit of stereo field stuff going on, just not wide enough IMO.

The first track Ive made that doesnt use reason

Will drop feedback after work.

try speeding the tempo up a bit..I always feel like we as producers don't take advantage of the BPMs enough..There is like a army march feel to the drums...its cool..though you could prolly come harder over them drums...

remix of House Of Flying Daggers by the Wy Tang I just finished, hope you like it!
it's past midnight so I'm out for today

Maybe cause Im from the 90s and grew up on the WU...so Im prolly overly biased..But that beat is way to soft to have some of the hardest lyricist..I would switch out the drum pattern and bring the MTF RUCKUS with some grimy ass drums and snars...and keep that melody..

  • @Marc Duncan - I like the synth pad that you created in the beat, it fits pretty well in the mix. I thought that the structure of the beat could be varied slightly more
  • @2GooD Productions -I liked the counterpoint of the different instrumentat parts but I thought that the timbre of the keyboard could be changed slightly to make it fit in the mix more
  • @TRIPLE EIGHT - It definitely gives me a Wu Tang vibe, I thought the kicks could knock, harder like have more of its presence in the lower frequency range, I also think some of the bass can be cut out of the snare to make it sit more in the midrange.
  • @Dougiedidit : I liked the drums of this beat, I think the mix of that synth could be worked on a little bit so that it fits better in the beat

Here is my beat:

@TRIPLE EIGHT I dont think the beat meshes very well with the vocal in some places, would love to be able to hear as an instrumental. The beat sounds very good. Up until about 1:53, what happened there, it really doesnt mesh with the vocal here.

@Dougiedidit This is a dark beat, it seems to be missing something, maybe a melody of some kind as it gets a little repetetive. Someting that plays off the main synth would be a nice touch, but hey, might just sound good with just an emcee on it.

@Chad The start had me thinking my internet connection was shit and the track was buffering lol. This is a dope beat, stays interesting, nice variation, the mix just sounds a bit muddy to me overall. I think the bass may be overcompressed, it gets real muddy when the bass kicks in. Nice beat tho.

sup yall, got a music video to share with yall but first let me review some of you guys work,

@Marc Duncan i like this beat alot, its catchy but sound like something nippsey wouldve made a track to, already thought of a hook to this lol, nice work fam

@2GooD Productions what program did you use for this beat? i kinda dig it man this shit got a space age kinda feel but the drums allow me to rap over this pretty easy, i think this has the right amount of groove to it even without a constant melody going through it ... loving these drums man nice work

your second beat is fire dude this sound like some shit i would love to hop on real shit, battle ish right here this sound like somebody bout to get murdered lol i love this beat yo

@TRIPLE EIGHT i love remixes, and wu tang so this was a great listen for me personally, i wouldve loved to hear the drums hit alot harder than that but for what its worth i thought this was a nice clean remix, i loved how shit switched up on ghostface verse, this was done very tastefully nice job

@Dougiedidit definately got some kanye like qualities to this beat, the snare mostly reminds me of there newer work together, i could hear jay on this although a part of me kinda doesnt lol, away from that though its not my style of beat but i dig it this has potential for someone whos clever to make it a dope track

@Chad this sounded like some fire bro i love the sample choice, sound like something rick ross would definatly bless lol, not in love with the chorus but this beat is fire bro i love it

@Dsensei fuck yea i love old funk/blues/gospel samples, this shit bang hard bro this is some premier like shit, definately the kind of boom bap shit im addcicted to this some fire too man nice work

last week i posted the instrumental, well today me and my artist has dropped a new video, The Walkin Dead, and im happy to share it with all of yall, please like, share, comment, ill do the same for yall!

@2GooD Productions Really nice come in

@Dsensei lord help me is dope, try to retain a little bit of the slower, more gospel aspects if possible, while the faster shift is nice I think there's a version of this with a good mix of both the original and your twist on it

@dBtheProducer kinda overkilled the beat with the lyrics, couldn't hear the beat super well

I'll do more in-depth later, posting quickly before coming back

I used cubase for the first one, its called road test because its the first time Ive made a beat using vst's and not reason. I also used Kontakt and Massive.

As for your video, its fucking dope. I think it would have been a nice touch if everyone was painted up like zombies with fake contact lenses, and ripped to fuck clothes, would look MAAAAAADDD. Still, I can see you are working on a budget just like me, I think you have done very well with the video. Just need to do the same at my studio once we have got our shit together

@mattyicemade Drank, this sounds like you are using stock sounds which dont sound very good. The composition and arrangement is good its just the sounds that let it down. All the sounds sound a bit meh for want of a better explanation, thats the best way I can put it. Nothing is really catchy or exciting about it.

Loaded. Pretty much the same again, the composition is good, the variation is good, the sounds just arent. Oh, the kick just came in, I like that, nice and up front where it should be, but the clap is too far back its almost lost. Try adding some reverb and delay to your sounds, even with stock sounds you can get great results with just reverb, delay and distortion. I have used stock reason sounds for many many years and have tried to make the most out of them, just those three effects go a long way to do that.

@Marc Duncan I love the melody here. The choice of sounds is also good, however, I would say that you could expose your drums more. In my opinion snare should be more on top. In terms of arrangement and composition it is done well. Transitions are nice. The whole beat is not boring at all. It just needs very little changes here and there :D Good job :)

@TRIPLE EIGHT Overall it sounds really nice. I think that drums should have more punch. Unfortunately, I think that the sample from 1:53 is too loud and crashes with the lyrics.

@Dougiedidit It's not necessarily my style of beat so my opinion will not help you much but I do like it. I really love this saw synth you used. It sounds really good.

Here you can find my Beat This entrance.
