Some East Asian samples for this one, so much great music from around the world :
I feel like I should be drinking a cocktail with a little umbrella when listening to this.
Very smooth music, for me it's just the drums seem a bit dry, especially when they're kinda left alone when you have the change-up. Maybe if they were compressed a little and blended in with the rest a bit more. I'd like to hear the melody more, it's a bit quiet.
Yeah with drums it's hard to get that right balance in the mix. For me it's usually the hats if they're too loud or not in the mix. It's just about balance. But also it could come down to if you do your beat with drums or melody first.Appreciate the feedback @Fade, taking it all onboard as always. Yeah working on compression and bits. I put the sample melody’s back as often get feedback to bring the drums out more haha. Nice I’ll bring them back up a little

I used to do drums first all the time but it just felt somewhat robotic for some of the beats, so now I do melody first. I just feel I have more room to create and I'm not restricted by following a drum pattern right away.Saying that, I’ve been playing with drums first versus sample or played instrument and at other times vice versa.
Haven’t really decided on a preferred way of producing but leaning more on the side of getting drums ready then listening to sample chops to see if I think they fit.
Other times I’ve just chopped a sample or ‘played’ my own instruments through Mpc or rarely Arturia Keystep then matched drums to that.
Either way, all good fun

Yeah same, by ‘drums ready’ I mean ready to bang out a pattern but quite often play a melody or chopped sample to a specific BPM first, then play drums to that.
However sometimes i need to totally change my selected drums or fuck that sample off.
All part of the process….
@InsideOutBeats
Drums are dope, as the sample is. But the sample is a bit quiet. I miss some extra layers to go with it. Drums could use a little more variation or an extra layer of percussions.
As a whole, the beat is not bad but to me it sounds like it's not yet finished...
Here's a thing I made for a beat battle recently:
