@crosstevsky thank you so much for your detailed feedback it's super helpfull! both those you mentioned are free sampled instruments i guess it sorta shows... think its about time i upgrade to a better library as this is a style i'd like to pursue. i'd love to come on discord but im on hiatus atm since my ears are real fckd so i cant really make or do much music related right now. I'd totally be up for talking drums at a later date though since i think i could learn a lot from you :)

literally when i pressed play joe rogan started talking about magic the gathering i have no idea how this happened but it took me like 1 min before i figured out it wasn't part of your beat and i was an idiot hahah anyway
the track is so unconventional, for me being mostly a melody focused guy its weird to hear a something with very few melodic hooks or elements ( i mean they are there but the drums sorta drive the whole track) it totally works though makes me very much understand what you mean when you talk about "life" in drums the tambourine especially. again feel i keep saying this but i cant give you much in critique except i had to resist the urge to hum a melody over it which mean i think could be a good thing :p ? nice work anyway it's refreshing to listen to stuff thats so different from my norm i enjoyed it a lot it definitly has that loose feel you were going for

Tried something different

This is tight! I'm new at this so take it with a grain of salt but it feels kind of full after the cutout and drop. Like there's maybe one too many layers. I look forward to learning the language around all of this better so i can actually give feedback haha. nice work

@crosstevsky Thanks for feedback :D If you wanted to obtain that Dilla vibe in your beat then in my opinion you did it. :D But I would say it's something like new Dilla or neo dilla. As @Crispifier mentioned you came up with a very unconventional beat here. I didn't enjoy the melody in it as there is a very little melody in your beat but I have to say that your drums have rich sound. You have a lot of sounds in them and I like their rhythm.

Alright, I have to get rid of oldschool beat that have been stored on my hard drive for quite a long time so from time to time I will be posting old school beats that were mainly made last year.

Thanks for your kind words my man...sounds like you are feeling guilty for posting old school beats :) Honestly i enjoyed this beat more than the modern trap productions of yours and I don't think you should burn the bridges with the old school sound.. your feedback "neo dilla" made me feel good, cause that what i've tried there...bringing modern flavor to the old sound i appreciate...and i think you should do that too, cause you have talent for both...the new and old...you can bring them together...

@Memento Beats this is fucking dope man kinda sad you want to get "rid" of this it had me swaying my head to the groove which is like a pretty good sign of quality im my experience hemhemhem :p

@RCSkateboards ok so firstly this is very creative, i personally dislike the waylight thing after the 1 min mark (just think it gets a tad repetetive). also it hard to critique cuz im assuming the lack of any type of standard kick or snare pattern is by choice, the other percussion elements are cool though. maybe you should focus on the overall comp of the beat? Since to me sounds like one long buildup with no payoff.. to sum up not my cup of tea stylisticly but its fun and different gj

Thanks for the feedback! Agree about the repetitiveness, definitely a good thing to think about. Regarding the lack of standard kick and snare, I'm coming at the beat making thing kind of sideways. i don't have a lot of formal training and i don't really (at this point) set out with a certain sound in mind so what i do comes from experimenting. sometimes it works out ok, sometimes it's just a mess haha. and sometimes i lay down a real regular drum thing. shaping and sculpting sound the experiment is the thanks for taking the time edit: i will proofread these haha

@crosstevsky and @Crispifier I think I must have described it incorrectly. My intention is not to burn bridges but to just get rid of old beats that are stored on my hard drive. I just want to show them to the world. It's not like I'm never going to make any boom bap beat or something or that I see oldschool beats as worse. But for now I feel better when I make let's call it "new school beats". I was super hyped when I was making "Alright Now" and I love this beat. :D But most of the time making old school beats is problematic for me as I'm limited both by tempo of boom bap beats and samples. Trap/EDM/whatever offers me more means of self expression. So as I said I'm not burning any bridges I just don't feel like creating new boom bap beats and I decided to post some of the oldschool beats I've had for about a year.

You can compose boom bap you know, my beat this track was composed except for the horn and vocal samples. You have the full control still. But each to their own, its your expression, nobody elses

Please take a listen and share some feedback!
Thx people!

This is tight! my only feedback is that the guitar strums sound a bit tinny to my ear, but that may just be me ha. It definitely sounds fully realized though thanks for sharing

Very good composition and mix is well done. I agree with @RCSkateboards that those guitar strums are a bit too tinny and also too piercing at least to me. I would like them to be more spacious but aside from that this is awesome production. :D

good mix and production tone of the rythmn guitar could do with some work the lead is very nice also like the understated piano fills. dislike the 4 chord progression and the lyrics though thats personal taste (heheh sry just a little to mindless pop for me) oh and composition wise would be cool if you broke from the 4 chord progression and did a bridge section just to spice it up. anyway taste aside its a very well put together track
