@2GooD Productions love when those horns come in on bright eyes, i reckon a touch of reverb on them would warm them up just perfect.
the crossover is very cinematic, the plucking works well I feel- and the question/response between the flute(?) and elec gtr is great!

submitted this beat a few weeks back for one of the comps, but didnt make it to rnd 3 so it never got a play, should I keep going with it/ where should i take it?
Nothing here yet.

@2GooD Productions Appreciate your style, very rich horns that sound good, but not as much with short notes. I hope you dig for stabs because they really are the way to go. The hats in the first track could use some velocity variation and looser swing.

The second track is cold, pretty suspenseful and all, but that English horn or basson or tuba or whatever it is might sound better with a lowpass filter to kill those goofy upper harmonics. Perhaps the snare could be a tiny bit louder.

@joemonco For whatever reason I can't get your track to play, sorry.

Mixed together samples from two songs and got very lucky when the other one turned out to be just right on tempo when sped up to the same key. I usually tweak swing by hand, but this time I tried out FL's swing slider and it turned out good. When I boosted the highs on the sample, it also exposed a lot of tape hiss (I took it from a digital remaster, not the original record), but I don't think it detracts much.

@joemonco The track isnt playing for some reason.

@Drago Zetić Great energy to the track and when the piano drops.....damn. I love the feeling this track invokes. Can just imagine some hard rappers on this. I see you have moved away a little from the DITC sound, not really a bad idea. While I love the sound its better to be yourself and not put yourself into a box.

Thanks a lot. I never actively chased a DITC sound but I can see what you meant all that time. I'm still firmly set in the boombap style, but I've started a few techstep and trap tracks a few months ago, still experimenting with that.

I think its really good to jump into other genres, I do all sorts from hip hop to drum n bass, house and garage, reggae and dancehall, RnB and some EDM. It really helped my versatility, and consistency too, and when you get bored of one genre, you can just do another one for a while. You can then also think of crossing one genre over with another, or others. One of the best things we can do as producers/beatmakers is get out of our comfort zones, it keeps things fresh, stops us stagnating and always adds new weapons to the arsenal.

I went through a stage where everything I did sounded like a Dre beat. And then out of frustration ended up in creative block for 7 years hahahaha.

I like the beat, very electronic. The only feedback I can give, since I am fairly new, is that I think your beat could benefit from some panning. I listened in my car and it sounds like everything is panned the same, so the melodies seem to be on top of each other. I will listen with some good headphones.

Here is my latest beat on YouTube. I could use some subscribers. All feedback is welcome. I have only been making beats since June. I have about 100 beats done. I am learning every day and getting better and better.

I can see you arent a noob when it comes to production. When you mentioned your gear I knew you were pretty serious, good song structure and nice mix. Welcome back to making music. Ive just got back into making music myself after 7 years. I had a heart attack six months ago and that gave me the kickstart I needed to get back to the music. Music has been there for me in life when nobody else has, its a great way to relieve emotion without having a breakdown. Glad to hear you came back. Whatever you are going through I can relate, just keep getting back up man and dont let the fuckers win, thats all I can say. Respect. Oh, and never give up on your dreams.

Thanks. Yeah life sure kicked my ass. Glad you are better. I used to make beats a while back when FL was called Fruity Loops. Lol.

I picked it back up fairly easily. Im glad I got back in. Im still a newbie though. I love learning new ways to produce. Got some bad beat block after that beat. So ill go outside for once lol.

I see what you tried to do at 1:40, but the transition could be improved in some way. Also, after that part when you come back to the original beat, I would try to just improve it in some way instead of living it as such, like adding a pad or some extra sound on top.
