most of y'all live in the states or UK so you have a lot of hiphop/RnB on the radio, here in holland we get all kinds of wack music! I'm basically annoyed by most songs on the radio, at the moment I can't name one song that's playded that I actually like, when I hear the radio I try to get as far away from it as I can, cause if I don't I get these irritating hooks stuck in my head(that's just as painful as it sounds ;) )

I will give props to Nelly & Kelly for 'Dilemma' (using the Patti Labelle song 'Love, Need & Want you')...it's a big hit, but personally I'm not liking it, especially after having heard it 10 times a day on the radio at work.

I am not hating on Missy. I like a lot of the productions but must admit that I'm tired of her lyrics.

Murda Inc! That's by far the most money hungry label I have seen/heard ever! I do not consider Ashanti the princess of R&B and Ja Rule sounds like he's got asthma or taking a big dump. I may have liked a few of his first songs but it didn't take me long to get tired of hearing him.

I understand why these R&B chicks re-use hip-hop tracks that were hits but I'm still going to ask why? Well I know why, if they were hits before then they will probably be it again...but still. And why do people keep re-sampling Club Nouveau?

And yes Fade, it's Enoch Light Orchestra - Hi-Jack.

Props to Neptunes, they've created a style that so many people want to hear and therefore hasn't really changed since their debut with Noreaga's 'Supathug". However, I would not mind if somebody gave them a new drumkit and a few new keybard sounds...

Jay-Z...real? I don't know if I'll agree...but then again, I don't even like his nasal voice...his choice of producers is good though.

Eminem, also props to him for creating something that is so in demand...I just don't get the demand. All of his new beats ain't nothing special in my book...and his flow and stand-up-comedian-like, aggresive-white-trash-like lyrics are getting old.

The Smilez & Southstar sample is Marvin Gay - Stop, Look, Listen and is actually a sample that my producer partner used a long time ago...to bad it didn't get used.

How come people can't hear that J-Lo is terrible, she can't sing, well nothing that warms my ears that is :headbang: .

um...anyone joining me in hating "I Can" by Nas? also, has anyone here heard "Dance"? (track 13?) he messed that up BIG time......um..... that beat by Smilez and Southstar is just as sugar coated as anything else out there. (who made it anyways?) and those two are GARBAGE mc's. they are just a notch above Freeway by my estimation. I do think that the production is getting better in parts of mainstream radio, except that people like Freeway and Fat Joe really know how to screw it up with bland lyrics....... the beat for "The Proud" off of Talib's album was nice........ but anyways im rambling; back to the subject. the MOST annoying song on Radio these days absolutely has to be Air Force Ones.... that hook is annoying. makes me want throw my t.v when the commercial comes on....

oh, and by the way, the stupidest song of the year is not nelly and kelly but jay-z and beyonce. how the hell is someone as "REAL" as jay-z gonna jack pac for a song after all the beef between him and pac. personally i wouldn't touch it. that makes people stop believing jay-z's "REAL" claims. the rest of the album is the tish but jay-z has officially sold out in my book!

I was thinking the same thing.

Nas is one my favorite rap cats, but if I hear that " I Know I Can" (or what the hell ever), I 'm going to snatch my Realistic cassette deck straight out the dash!

That nas song i know i can is a good song especially for todays youth so I can't say that it sucks because it's a very positive song and has the most powerful message in a song on raido for the past few years.....These youngins are our future...do you want them all imatating the form of music that's being put out like Pimp Juice(Sucks) Like a Pimp(sucks) and plenty of other stupid voilent and women degrading songs? Now right now I'm not feeling Nas as aperson because of the things he's saying and doing , but the man has been through a lot in the past 2 years and it's kind of understandable but that song happens to be the best song on the radio right now

Gotta agree with inrctyhoodmusic...can't hate on a track thats got some real meaning to it. I'd rather hear a song warning young girls about HIV than being told that its hot in herre so I should take off all my clothes or hearing Ashanti's inchorent ramblings (in which she'll say the word 'baby' in any given song atleast 20 times).
But shit gets worse in the UK. A majority of this country only has 2 radio shows a week specially for rap (a total of 5 hours). However...within those 5 hours we are usually subjected to R-Kelly, Genuiwine, Mariah Carrey, Ashanti and all that other bullshit that should be on the damn R&B show! When half of the precious rap air time we get is overthrown by bullshit groups like B2K...murderous thoughts stream into my head...and then what do you know...zoom zoom zoom will come on some advert and thats then I snap and go postal...

Anything playing on the radio right now is shitty. Of course, there're some exceptions. But right now, that Ol' McGirt shit...is wack!

yeah but thats reasonable doubt. thats not the blueprint; Jay-z is the blashemous biter from hell in my book. he jacks and jacks and jacks- blatantly, i might add- so often that it becomes difficult to praise his rare triumphs from his failures. so, take "girls, girls, girls" for example. he turned a gorgeous beat into a complete mess of a song, recycling an already annoying hook and destroying the song. then he jacks tupac COMPLETELY, and uses a title from an eminem song (who i think may have lifted that title from someone himself.)on the same track....? how can you possibly respect him? oh, and has anyone heard the "new" diss track from em, 50, and busta? they jacked hail mary... em took the verses and all. yeah, such great mc's, right? so great , in fact, that they shamelessly hum on the sacks of both B.I.G and Pac in a tired attempt at... what? what are they trying to accomplish? that goes for mos def too.... i'm gettin tired of all this biting. c'mon. how you gonna have an album full of jacked lines and beats and complain about heads like puffy? sampling is one thing, because there is an art to doing it well; you just cant do the same things with lines and verses. all thse cats supposedly 'mc's', but cant write they own words?

Ayo, Truth told...I have a feeling the whole Hail Mary jacking was actually done to make a point to Ja Rule...because Ja Rule seems to have gone insane and believes he's 2Pac. So Em, 50 and Busta thought it'd be ammusing to diss him to Hail Mary....besides...diss tracks aren't all that important cause they're strictly for the radio. Where as tracks like Bonnie and Clyde...that was a complete hi-jacking.

What I hate is the following:

•People who obviously have NO musical background or talent.
•Producers who make incredible beats and give them to mediocre 'artists'.
•People that have songs out just to make money.

I dont necesarrily hate on 'commercial' sounding stuff. But most of it IS whack. What alot of people dont realize is that:
Musicians dont play for Musicians.
They play for the people. So whatever the people like, thats whats gonna sell. As whack as alot of rappers out there are, they still manage to sell millions of records and get played out on the radio. Yet alot of ridiculous MC's will never sell millions because they dont have a business mentality and they feel the need to stay 'underground'.

'Artists' I cant stand:
Baby
Master P
Ja Rule (fake ass bitch)
Ashanti, basically all of Murder Inc.
Smiles & Southstar (i hope they never come out with another song ever again)

i have absolutely ZERO musical background... some of us werent able to obtain it, and so we pick things up and figure it out for ourselves. i dont need a musical background to manipulate a sample; i could build a decent career on just sampling. that doenst mean i dont have talent, that means that my talent lies in a particular area. take murda inc: they have talent, as far as knowing what the lemmings will buy... as far as the whole hail mary thing..... i figured that out from the get. kind of obvious, you know? the point being that its done very often..... and it gets old. heads get dissed and told that they are weak because they dont have much of a freestyle, and told you "aint an mc unless you can freestyle" ... but its cool to blatantly jack any and everyones lines for a song?

Nah...it ain't cool and I agree...it pisses me off. I've heard various cats in internet battles rip off Celph-titled's 'kill and unborn baby and still couldn't de-fetus' line and on the commerical level theres all kinds of crazy. But the worse case of jacking I've ever heard is this dude called Angelous...he sounds exactly like Jay-Z, flows more or less exactly like Jay-Z, writes lyrics that sound exactly like Jay-Z and has mannerisims in the things he says eg. 'wooo' that sound exactly like Jay-Z....shit is weak. Just incase you want to check out one of the biggest jackings I've ever heard in my life check either....
