whenever i sample a drum break i get really low volume. i've got the record volume all the way up, (if i don't put this all the way up or close to it i also have to lower the threshold to about -40 to -50), the trim on my mixer channel is 3/4 of the way up, the volume on that channel is all the way up, the main volume is half way up. this is loud as shit when just played, but when i sample i get hardly no volume. what am i doing wrong.

^^^^^^^True Formant024. I recently sold my vestax DJ mixer and the sound that comes out of my speakers from the turntable is very low.

yep, you need a pre amp, try your stereo pre amp and use the tape monitor -> pc input. You can also buy mulit purpose pre amps that also include phone pre amping, you could also use em for mic etc.
