I know this question probably already been asked, but i'll ask it again.

I have been producing for a very SHORT amount of time, i've got a couple of vst's. But overall i think i'm lacking in just quality "bread and butter" sounds (piano, bass, guitar etc..)

So i wanted to buy a motif rack, but i saw the price and it's well out of my range.

Cold Truth i remember you posting that sampletank2 was really good when you first got it. Is it still good now, a few months down the line?

Also, computer music (or maybe it was future music) rated it as average, because they said some sounds were nice and others were just plain awful.

Man something wrong w/ my FL studio or sampletank, But I've had it for months now and I haven't made a beat w/ it yet. (for some reason I can't play chords.

But sampletank comes w/ some really dope, realistic sounds. 1500 to be exact. It's a good cop

yeah, sampletank 2 is still dope a few months down the line. i am a "bread-and-butter" guy, and these are the sounds it offers at a very high quality. i still recommend it highly- because in addition to that you get the 30 effects and all the synth parameters for your own samples, and any akai 21000/3000, wav, aiff, or samplecell sound disks can be imported as well as any drums, or phrases you sample yourself...., you have very good effects to tweak them with............ 5 months later it is still a very solid program. mamji, i wish could help you with ytour problem, but i do not have fruity loops and i suspect that may be a big part of the issue....

the best place to get sounds is not on a computer

try sampling... computer stock sounds and midi intruments and sound banks are getting played out... dig in the crates for some good instrument samples and you can play those samples on your keyboard and they will allways sound better than some sound bank shit....

 Not to be rude but to take a sound off vinyl and map it across a keyboard and play it on a keyboard sounds like shit.It gets distorted after one octave. You would need multisamples which are next to impossible to get off a record unless its a record made for dj/producing.So if there some other way that sounds dope that i dont know of,please share.
peace

look, this thread isnt about sampling vs synths.

if there are any more of these types posts, i will close the thread. dj delay's question has already been answered anyways.

I have fruity loops and SampleTank 2 and it works perfectly fine. I love it. I just had to start using FL's MIDI Outs in order to access all the other channels in SampleTank 2.

wow

i just checked back to this question... i cant believe my little post got such a reaction... dont take it personal ... "you'll close the thread" if there was any more talk of this... thats real funny... there are lots of ways to "sample" but to do it in a way where you still create the melodies rather than just gettin a fresh loop is all i was sayin... i cant think stock sounds are wack?? is that what you are sayin... you should chill on that dog...

nobody is getting upset. this isnt a debate on the merits of sampling vs synths, whats better, etc. dj delay had a specific question regarding a specific product. no one said you cant think stock sounds are wack. you are perfectly entitled to your view..

however, they had nothing to do with the topic! all i was doing was my job as a moderator and keeping the thread from being ruined by yet another debate on samplng vs synth stock sounds.... because that just doesnt have anything to do with the initial question.

besides that, i wasnt even responding to you per se.

i wasnt even mildly irritated. i just wanted to get the thread back on topic.

seriously

its on subject my man... dude has been producing for a "short time" and is lacking good sounds he said... my contention is that he was just not looking in the right place and may want to go the sampling route rather than the stock sound route... as there is alot to learn on both sides ... since he is new to production i was tryin to guide him down the better of what i see as two very different paths to hip hop production... i just thought it was funny how you said you would close the thread ... im new to the site and aint seen anyone try to regulate before thats all... peace
