I havent got too much organization for my samples, apart from the fact they are in folders all over the place, most in the folder "sample"s. But they really arent organized properly.
Due to the fact that most of my samples I cut from mp3s. I only really use samples for drums.
I try to keep the chops I use for tracks with the track I used them with.
I need to set up some sort of ordering system to make locating certain sounds a lot easier.
But then that would take fucking ages too.

I keep everything organized makes the navigation process simple
I'm organized at the level of genre and sub folders for certain sounds, samples etc within those genre folders.
Genre's as follows:
Hip Hop & Rnb- Sub - 90's style, Nu Skool, Soul , Neo, Organic, East Coast, West Coast
Dirty South- Sub - ATL, Texas, Midwest
Raggaeton
Experimental
But within those 4 I have at least 500gig (probably more) worth of material to choose from!
Genre's as follows:

on my harddrive, my samples are pretty much in folders... but when i put them onto my memory cards for the drum sampler, theyre in order of kicks, snares, etc... i usually pick a few sounds i like from the harddrive, then load then into the right folders on the card.

2good, I used to be the same way. I still am somewhat, but you can work around it if you make shortcuts.
Kaleidon - start now before it's too late! Organize a folder and put everything into it. It's such a hassle to locate files you really need months and years down the road.
you guys ever record something and the default folder it tries to save to is like 5 miles away from the folder you want to save it into in your directory?
Quick tip here, right click and create a shortcut icon in the annoying folder it loads to by default and direct it to the folders you use the most. I have shortcuts everywhere it makes it easy to navigate since I have so many folders to keep track of.
I probably have 30 folders of various sample cd's alone, then I have the stuff I record weekly off vinyl. All of it is tidely fit into one MEGA SAMPLES folder that I throw everything in, and my external hard drive backs it up anytime there is a change made to it. It's still messy, but at least its all in one spot now.

That sounds like a great thing. Only I dont know how to do it.

I bought Norton Ghost, it's a dedicated backup utility program. I got frustrated after losing my 3rd hard drive in 5 years!
-If you can imagine rebuilding your sample library year after year, and not having any of your beats load up until you locate all the sounds again on a new installation. makes you wanna quit life lol.

I hear that, I still have that trouble now. Since building my new comp and all the harddrives having different drive letters I have to search for all the old samples I didnt self contain into my reason tracks.
I have managed to get all my old samples on the external backup so its just a matter of searching that, but its one big drive. I have to get Norton Ghost Id like to automate the backup process like that. Thanks for the tip.
