Some will claim that Eminem is God, others will say that there's 100's of rappers better than him. Therefore, this thread is probably going to cause a lot of tension and go on for ages until it just seems pointless. That's my opinion anyway...

Em was dope when he was on the freestyle circuit.
As for Royce bein' better, that's a good debate. I do know that on the song "Nuthin' To Do", Royce totally out performed Eminem.

What has Royce done lately.......I haven't heard anything from him since detroit rock city......he's nice but he is not in the same situation em was in.......Before Dre signed em he was suposed to sign with duck down(black moon ogc helta skelta smiff n wesson)
If he had have done that I seriously doubt he what have did what he's accomplished so far.......If royce was with dre as well it would be a sure shot for royce because for some reason dre has a way to bring the best out of an mc.......I will go out on a limb and say if it wasn't for dre , the Quincy Jones of hip hop em wouldn't have made the noise he has made so far....So if you put em and royce in the same boat with duck down and aftermath they both would have sank with duck down and the both would make dre even richer with two different styles they would have went after two different listeners

Eminem is dope, i dont see how anybody can say "he's just ok" why is he just ok? Because he's mainstream and big now and raps over dre beats? People are flat out haters. He's dope and thats all that matters who cares who may be better what does that matter, these things never get solved based on personal opinion and preference.

Royce is definately skilled and better than a lot of rappers out there and hes much underrated but how anyone can say hes better than eminem baffles me. You must have something personal against em if u can say that. Look how much farther eminem has come, his voice and style has evolved and he kicks a different style and flo on every fuckin song. I wil admit he does get repetitive when hes talkin bout his momma and daughter but cmon now study your eminem cds then study Royces shit cmon now

Splitpersonaliti- You should reverse their situations and think what happen...would em have made noise with tommy boy?would rocye sell millions on aftermath?they're both talented mc's but if you put them in each others situation things would be a lot different....

i hear what your saying but there is a reason why Dre is investing so much time and effort into Eminem and that is because he is, in my mind, the most skilled mc of our time, don't act like Dre hasn't heard any of royces shit, royce was on the the slim shady LP Dre even did produce a track for Royce. IF dre really thought he was good he would be doing exactly what he did for eminem...Dre is definatlely aware of who Royce is. If Royce is as good as eminem and if Dre is responsible for most of eminems success why doesn't dre help royce out the way he does eminem? My answer is because Dre didn't see the same potential in royce as he did eminem. My point is you said reverse their situation and as of right now they have both been exposed to Dr. Dre so Royce has had the same chance for Dre to hear his material.. i guess he aint workin with dre cuz his shit wasn't as appealing to dre as em's was. If thats the case dre didn't think royce has what em has.

If Dre didnt think that Royce was as hot as he IS then he wouldnt have Royce writing his rhymes, hhmmmmmm.....but nobody knows that, the malcolm X shit is hot, all the dis records are hot and em knows what royce is capable of, and this is much more than some Rap beef because this is some real life shit between two men that sucked in other people, i think em is dope, but the reality of it all is that LYRICALLY he is NOT better than Royce, listen to his album, listen to King of Kings, listen to some of their duets, listen to the ORIGINAL renegades, Royce is no joke, he gets slept on, and the reason dre didnt sign royce is because royce was already under contract and hes doin him, em has come far but hes changed so much since he came out as silly ass slim shady, this guy is playin the tuff guy role, and as a hip-hop FAN i can admit that, i love em, and i once also thought he was the nicest kid alive, but in Reality he is NOT, now out of humility royce would tell u this also himself, but there are people doper than em.as far as this beef goes u cant listen to the third song (malcolm X) and base statements on that, the beef was initially targeted at Bizarre, and Royce made it clear that he was not goin at Em or even Proof for that matterand if u heard the d12 records, u would understand why he did the malcolm x track, Em is definately top 5 right now, but there are 3 people ahead of him

Guevara has a vaild point splitpersonalit...Royce the 5'9 has written a lot of songs for dre.....Why didn't eminem do this?
Interesting debate...I'ma big fan of both Eminem and Royce. In fact, it was Eminem that really introduced me to who Royce was through the Slim Shady LP on 'Bad meets evil'...I was feelin' Royce from the 1st time I heard it.
It'd be unfair to comment on who's better, Scary Movies, Bad meets evil, Whut the beat, The one (remix) and the rest were all nice tracks and they complemented each others styles so well, which made the whole beef thing a real shame cause I was always hoping for them to drop a bad meets evil album but thats unlikely now (mainly due to D12...psh).
On a side note, I wanna agree with a few things said on this board. People that hate on Eminem cause he's a success should really check themselves because that doesn't make his flow any weaker or his punches any less tight. Although, I must say the commerical side of music seems to have moved him away from his old crazy style with the sick sense of humour that he displayed going back a couple of years, which I personally enjoyed...maybe thats commerical influences on his music or just the evolution of an artist...I dunno, but its a shame. I'd also like to agree that as dope as Eminem is...there are a lot of cats that are on level with him, if not above him (check Tonedeff, Apathy, Louis Logic, etc).
Well, thats only my opinion atleast....peace!
