Hello there,

I've had this Roland XV5050 rack for a long time. Heard a lot of good things about it, but the truth is that the sounds never convinced me. Especially those electric pianos (come on Roland!).

I see that the Yamaha Motif rack doesn't cost a whole lot more on ebay.

What do you guys think?

Should I keep the xv5050 or should I sell it while I still can?

Are those Roland sounds dated compared to the Motif or am I dreaming?

The Motif rack has great sound but a lot of issues, save up a lil more and get the Motif ES rack instead [more sounds, plus the original's problems were fixed].

i used to have the roland xv5050, sold it to get some money for a workstation. but like you i wasnt too impressed with the electric pianos. it had alot of other great sounds though, take for instance the synths and brass section, and the strings.

save up a little more and go for motif es rack like thedeen suggested, it is way way better than the xv5050 and is a little more up to date than the motif rack.
