I dont see why you have to be an idiot who does crime and goes to jail to be "cool".
So what if dude worked as a C.O?
I dont think anyone here can actually imagine what a shit ass difficult job that can be.

The problem here is that , again, your not suppose to be doing right and then make music...You cant have a thug record if you have ever had an actual JOB.. OMG what were you thinking???
Trying to get a paycheck instead of being a damn numbskull?????

Yeah we gotta get cats like that out of the game, I mean my God, think what would happen if all these kids start learning how to be responsible and shit(not that rick's music conveys any that)..Or worse yet realising that the life of rappers is not what you see on videos, and that to survive and get ahead you have to work!
Holy Shit , that would destroy the whole order of things!
Good job on denouncing this guy..We cant let people who have ever been responsible get away with being an influence in our kids lives!

no theres nuttin wrong with being a C.O but there is when ur a cop and ur rhyming about drugs and hustling thas fuckin fake and the exact definition of posing..do you wanna hear a Black eyed peas record about Shooting guns and drive bys???

^^^ ahhhh, but if they're label made them do so in order to "get on" ....
But the appeal of blackeyed peas is that they DONT rap about that.

Thats what happens alot, I got songs I did that are hot about killin cops and takin hostages and shit, its entertainment, I didnt really do the shit..lol.. But yet it bangs.

Shit some cops do do drugs and hustle and shit, but it would be stupid to admit it in a rap..lol

ie:Training Day

Why is this a big deal? People fall for this every single day, your favorite rapper most likely isn't a D-Boy or what he claims to be... not enough of a reason for me to stop listening though.

That's exactly the way 99% of the people feel. That 1% are whiners/complainers anyway. If it wasn't this they'd spread some other bullshit. As long as he puts out the music that I like I'm bumping his shit end of story.

Funny...

People are ripping this dude because he was a CO....

If someone told you if you rapped about drugs & violence, and you'd make a lot of money, would you do it?

Shit..the dude was making 26k a year as a CO...

I make about that much in 6 months.....

I don't understand all the negativity......as well-informed people, we should know that all these drug stories are completely fabricated. Drug talk is what sells!!!!!!

I think a lot of people are missing the big picture....it's all about the money...gaining the "street cred" is part of the plot to make MORE money.

Shit..he stole the name from a real drug dealer who many claim to be the pioneer of crack.... How could you believe such a person (see also: 50 Cent)?????

EXACTLY! It's not like he could leave the prison yard and go out whip out a badge and arrest people. Being a correction officer is just a job. And like someone else said, I know plenty guys that work at the county jail that are more dangerous in the street than any dope boy or wanna be gangster. I had a homie that worked at the county who called all the Dope Boyz when SWAT was suiting up to go make a buss. He was well taken care of on the block.

Saying he has no street cred because of that is like saying Relic shouldn't be on this site or make beats because he works in a court house 5 days a week. That's his legit way of feeding his family.....nothing more.

IT'S STUPID AND RIDICULOUS to even be debating this shit. He's being hated on because he's doing big things in the business and whoever dug this shit up isn't. HATERZ EVERYWHERE I GO SIMPLEX!

And "street cred" ain't go shit to do with your music making abilities anywayz. I know some real Kut throats that attempt rap and make beatz that are fucking horrible.

The real gangsters are the ones that make moves and stay out of jail to me anyway. THEY MOVE IN SILENCE!

Going in and out of jail only makes you a "dumb ass" crook!

definitly cosign,,but lso, reortedly homeboy is denyin it. See, theres my problem. Fuck all that, like u said, wheres the problem. Unfortunately, this is our society, abd its just another "manufactured rapper".

Well excellent point, we share the same pessimism about the industry, but its still an "Industry" and thats what they do, package things in cans and slap a label on it.
They care no more about the artist than campbells does about the beef in their beef stew.

like sha points out,,,you can be strong and make dough ion the indie tip if you know what ya doin,,,

On another tip...One of my "friends" on myspace just walked away from a Def Jam deal supposedly,,,they wanted to sign him, give him about 100000K advance, but he had to rhyme more with a southern style and they were going to write him all new hooks and verses. They even told him how he needs to dress...lol..I believe that

Damn! That's foul....I've been seeing this trend for a minute now. You know it's some shit when a vet like MC Shan is dropping an album with 85% dirty south beats on it!!!

It ain't right but it is what it is. As long as knowledgeable people understand that this problem is not created by us that reside in the south. It's these greedy ass labels, not us. Dirty south music is still moving units in a crippled industry. Other than Jigga, Dipset and a few others I'm hearing nothing getting thru from up top. I'm associated with several record pools and 98% of what I get is Dirty South or Rnb only. Snoop is the only west coast artist weathering the storm. As a DJ I have to admit spinning damn near 5 hours of dirty south music is getting hella boring. I have my west, east and midwest sets but I quickly have to go back to the dirty or the floor will thin dramatically.

I'm surprised moguls like Russel Simmons aren't stepping up to the plate and creating a label to support Northern hip hop. The people that could demand a level playing field aren't doing shit but selling clothes!!!!!

That sucks, I would be bored with it too, but when it comes to getting people to pop, snap ,and wiggle a lil you dont got much of a choice when thats whats in demand.

There's songs that are club-friendly...

BUT...they're for the old school crowd..

I'll tell you what, though..

You'd play The Scenerio in a club..and I'll get it crunk quick....

how can dude be a C.O and then name himself after the Crack kingpin and make an album about hustling and drugs..this is really sad these dudes are pure posers man
110% of crimes rapped about never happened. Real criminals don't talk about the toys they own, they don't talk about the people they've killed and they don't talk about any of the other illegal bullshit they do. That's called self incrimination.

Gangster rap is mostly a joke.
