I'm kinda new to recording vocals in this program, I had a question about the multitrack.

So I open my beat in the wave edit screen, as an mp3, throw it into MT, but I want to separate the parts of the beat for let's say, a track for the verse, and another track for the hook. What I wanna do is be able to loop the verse as many times as I need to match my emcee's verse and I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Should I be using separate tracks for the verse and the hook or am I just missing one screw too many and if so somebody help me to learn this. Thanks,

i use cool edit and i know it pretty well, but im not sure what your trying to do? the multi track allows you to use basically as many or more tracks than youll need for a hip hop song. you really only need to put the beat in once, on one track, and then you can use the rest of the track to do vocals. i dont know id thats what your asking tho, so if you explain your question a bit more maybe i can help you out better, sorry.

Okay to put it simply, how do I loop a certain part of the beat? I don't want to loop the whole thing...

theres a loop button next to the play button, you can select a certain part of your instrumental by highlighting it and then pressin the loop button. but if your gonna record to it it would have to be longer than your verse else it would loop the recordin section as well. in your situation, i always loop the beat in another program and record vocals by themselves in cool edit, hope that helps, p.
