Not unless you're willing to come off of a hundred bucks more... For $300 you can get better monitors from Maudio and several other companies. $200 ain't gonna get you anything serious.

My pleasure, cuz....

Oh by the way, I recommended passive monitors since (I think) they are the ones with a flat response... am I mistaken?

My guess is (if I'm mistaken, some others could respond) passive speakers have a flat response, meaning they wont color your beat (no addition of bass or treble... it will sound clean, as it should sound) and active would/could boost some frequencies...

But I'm not 100% sure on that one... I'll look it up!

Here's what I found (on Mackie's website):

A true “Active” design means that a studio monitor contains separate onboard amplifiers for each driver, plus onboard Active crossovers (which eliminates the need for external processing and eliminates phase anomalies), and time-correction circuitry, so the highs and lows reach the listener at the same time.

So I guess "Active" means that there is a amplifier intergrated in the speakers, so they dont need to be amplified...

Here's a lil link that explains it:
http://www.mackie.com/products/hr824/powermad.html

so then, Active speakers would be better than passive.

True, that extra bill towards monitors is definitely going to step the quality up. So it's a wise investment. Just a hundred more and in the world of production, you know we do what it takes to get the best sound.
