I chop my sample in REcycle then put it in Rex, but something it has that piece of shit sounding, like it's all chopy and electronic, i don't understand that. And it's sound like this the minute i chop it in Recycle and play it.

Anyone knows?

i think feature wise machfive seems pretty good but it is a little unstable and is less cpu economical.... i have in the past (before i stuffed up three times with challenge response in an installation) used only sonar and kontakt to make music and even a shitty celeron processor with minimal ram could handle 16 different channels of sounds (many maulti samples bass guitar strings etc. piano....) with different outs etc. i am now buying a new computer to use for kontakt via fx teleport (check this program out real cool !!)
kontakt does have all the features of machfive and more and the semi modular nature of effects routing in kontakt is very cool the only thing i found possibly better about machfive was it's browser and had a slightly bigger editing window (set loop points stanrt end etc.)
i'm with nnxt kontakt all the way but am very grateful for developers like motu for putting pressure on native instruments to step up there game for kontakt 2 (it wouldn't be what it is without machfive halion in my opinion never posed kontakt any threat)
i now use battery 2 and it is a fuckin dope drum sampler realy easy to layer sound nice adsr

oh yeh andon the dr rex thing even tho i have only used reason once or twice at mates places i will quote a chorus to a track i forget the name of

- what is it good for....
absolutely nothing !

i agree kontakt has more features. i was mainly saying machfive looks better for its ease of use. ive been fucking with kontakt for a couple weeks or so now and it hasnt been nice to me. one thing i dont like is how you have this massive rack that you have to scroll up and down all the time. with machfive it all in one window which is much easier. plus the parameter layout is much easier to access.

Mainly I use it for what is made for loops! I don't use it as a sampler tho it's great for chopped vocal phrases but yeah...every so often Im lazy and/or there actually are dope drum loops that are very usable so I load'em up good to get the juices flowing even if you decided to program your own drums afterwards.Anyway it's a great tool 2 have regardless of how you use it,bottom line it is usefull.

I used to use the Rex, but i often dont even bother anymore like someone said earlier since u can do more to yer samples once their in the XT. The XT is more flexible and u can also assign seperate OUTS on the back of the XT to each slice in the sampler....thats a great added feature. This comes in handy, say if u want to add reverb to just part of the sample.....Since u can do everything that u can do in the rex player minus the CV routing, i dont even bother anymore....If yer real down with playing with yer CV information then the REX can come in handy, but other than that, stick to the XT for more flexibility. (oh yeah, i forgot to mention: U actually load yer REX file into the XT if all this seems confusing and no one bothered mentioning it yet!?)
