Here's my problem. I just purchased a much needed upgraded computer that came with Windows Vista. It installed Reason 3.0 just fine but now I'm having control surface issues(basically I can't use my midi keyboard with Reason now). When I use "find" it shows my midi keyboard which is a M-AUDIO KEYSTATION 49e(nothing special). When I initially open Reason I get an error message saying that Reason couldn't setup the control surface properly. Once I go into preferences to manually set this up I choose add and click on M-Audio in the drop down menu then I click find by midi input and it asks me to move a control or press a key. When I do is list 49e I choose it but it has a red x which is an error. The error reads "FAILED TO LOAD SURFACE: M-AUDIO<OTHER>((MIDI KEYBOARD(NO CONTROLS))). THE REMOTE MAPPING FILE CANNOT BE FOUND FOR M-AUDIO

Is a Windows Vista Compatibility issue or a Reason 3.0 issue. Any adice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

nah...3.0 works on xp with no issues. i just needed a system with a better processor, more memory and more RAM. This new computer just happens to have Windows Vista pre-installed. My new computer has a dual AMD64 processor, 320G hard drive and 2G's of RAM expandable to 4.

I think you Reason 3.05
But the midi key will work with USB by itself.
M-Audio drivers are not Vista ready yet

or if u really don't want to get the old computer out and you want to really use your new windows vista
get ya self a midi-man box
then you can hook up threw usb then you can hook ya keyboard up threw midi

I found out that it's because M-Audio hasn't come out with drivers for my keyboard that work with Vista. U think going thru midi instead of usb will work? Don't u still need drivers? I'm thinking about making my new computer a dual boot system. That might be the way to go. Thanks for the advice.

- Try downloading the xp drivers for your midi keyboard.
- Then right click on the driver setup icon
- click on the compatibility tab
- Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for.."
- Make sure the drop down menu says "Windows Xp (service pack 2).

It should work after that, its the same thing I did when I got my new Pc loaded wit vista.
