How u know ur music is up to par? (meaning good enuff to put out)
cause i got a musical vision as to how i want my beats to sound and how my music should sound i aint there yet.

But fools around me keep saying ur shits ready or it good enuff or better than some of the shit they hear out.

Would u put music out for the sake of having music out and possibly get some money out of it or would u wait, until u get the sound u want.

If you can put it out put it out as long as you can create a buzz that's the only thing you're looking for...If the production is up to par and the rhymes are not then production will be the buzz and vice versa

uh, yup, that pretty well sums it up. the other thing is, and dont be offended, but DONT believe the hype of those around you. people you know, or even sort of know, tend to think you are better than you are, and these are the same people that when you press up some cd's to sale, they complain because they thought that theirs would be free. i have an (sometime) partner and he acts like we are so good, but when we had an ppurtunity to do a semi-professional demo, he backed out and said we werent good enough yet, we needed more work, etc.... so when the time came, he didnt even believe his own hype!

but if people are buying, then yeah, you are up to par AT A CERTAIN LEVEL. and even if people are buying, dont jump on your own bandwagon! people may like you, but if you arent where YOU want to be, please dont settle for being "good enough" because we are our own worst critics, and when we begin to lose that, we will decline as artists.

Freakwncy makes a good point on this subject.

Have you posted your beats here, in order to solicit a response from people in the same game as you? Perhaps we could give you some constructive criticism dependent on our perceived quality of your tracks.

Consider it, if you haven't already (I'd have to check.)

Sincerely,
God

Good question. I think the answer is totally subjective. It changes with each beat. I've heard tracks from cats that are already on (Neptunes, Tim, Dre, Premo, etc.) that are weak and were put out just because. You'll know when the track knocks while listening to it at home, unmixed ( I talkin bout being mixed with the big boy toys) and unmastered without some hot azz lyrics.

Yeah i reckon that if you can sell it then sell it. But dont compromise the kind of music you like just so you make money. Music is its own reward first an foremost

i think if you are a "true" musician for lack of a better word, no matter what YOU do will be good enough for YOU, no matter how good people tell you that your ish is tight, i know i make something and i will flip out while im making it, but the next day ill be like, "its ok" but someone will hear it months later and flip out over it and ill be like "this sucks" ya know?
