NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York Police Department spokesman says the actor Heath Ledger has been found dead at a downtown Manhattan residence.
A cause of death has not yet been released.
Ledger starred in such movies as "The Patriot," "A Knight's Tale," and "Brokeback Mountain."
He is starring in the new Batman movie this summer as the villan "The Joker."

Damn....you guys are cold blooded! They're saying that it was definitely not a suicide. Dude was working extra hard and possibly had Pneumonia. Shooting like 3 movies at one time almost. He was coming and going and it was hard for him to sleep because he was and extreme actor who prided himself on perfecting his roles so most times he couldn't get them out of his head. It was most likely a drug inter action. I just peeped how many "good" movies he played in....outside of that broke back joint of course. Dude was extra talented....u have to peep his resume.

it's so easy to look at this and just pass judgment over the internet. none of us personally knew the real him, and none of us knew his motivations. what we do know is that a very young upcoming actor who was about to give his breakthrough performance is gone. he left behind a wife and 2 year old daughter who will now be subjected to a terrible amount of paparazzi and news reporters. it's going to be real difficult for alot of people to deal with this death, but overall he was just a man and should be respected.

I don't care who you are or what you've been thru everyone has their own problems, and suicide is taking the lowest possible road out. I can understand if u have some type of mental conditoin, but just saying life is too hard i'm gonna off myself is some bullshit. I'm sure we've all felt that way at one point in time, but to actually go thru with it and never even try to rebuild the shambles of your life is considered failure in my book.
