it's for many things: tuning, filter cutoff, layer switching, attack and decay, editing samples.

I guess all the things that the q link slider you can do else where on the mpc it is just something that you can do on the fly?

i dont use that qlink stuff... you can use it too sequence your filters and effects... like if a have a patch or a sample.. you can actually do some crazy effect or filter sequncuences upto a 64 note signature... a really cool concept but im just not really into crazy effects like that..esp since the 4k's effects are rather doo-doo ... ive used it a few times for filters but i just dont really seing it as a feature that is all that helpful. maybe if i was producing like trance or techno i would use it more...

word up, i agree.. i've never even had a desire to try to learn to use em
