has anyone ever dont this before? can someone tell what is needed for a good instrumental CD, does it need cover artwork etc.. or should i just stick my name on it and send it off - if its just going to some emcees who want some beats??? and should i create a full length instrumental with an intro 16 bars/8 bars and so on, or just little sample of each beat?

how many beats would u recommend putting on the CD?

thanks.

I know some people on here who can give you good answers to all that, but one thing you need to do is make sure your name and how toreach you is on it. Write it on the cd, on the paper, on the case, on the cd again.

hmm it depends wot your gonna use it for tbh ! ?

if its for a demo to send off to companies for them to use with their artist then fuck the artwork, make sure all your details are on it, and make sure you don't put too many tracks on maybe 8-10 at the most and make sure they are your best tracks id put a bout 2 min clips of the beats enough to get an idea but not too much !
If your doing it as a cd to sell then yea get mastering artwork etc, and obviously the music needs to be much more detailed than your usual hip hop beat see, dj shadow or RJD2 for examples !

Bad Idea, Its So Easy For An Established Production Team To Duplicate Your Sound. They Dont Even Need To Copy Ur Exact Beat, The Only Thing They Need To Do Is Get Instruments That Follow The Same Patterns Ur Instruments Follow And They Can Make A Beat Of Their Own That Sounds Just Like Yours And Get Away With It. So I Suggest U Spend That 30.00 Getting Your Cd Copyrighted Before U Decide To Do Anything Else.

Pete Rock Can Do It, Cause He Is Not Only Established, But He Has All His Tracks Copyrighted. Not Only Does Everybody Know Its A Pete Rock Beat, The Law Also Recognizes It As Being His Property Too. So The Prospects Of Somebody Getting Big Off A Pete Rock Instrumental That Wasnt Authorized Is Slim To None.

PS - JUST FIND A GOOD MC AND U WONT EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SOMEBODY STEALING A BEAT.

if ya gonna make an instrumental cd make sure the beats arnt loops. progression is the key. otherwise your listeners either fall asleep or get annoyed with you.

That's a huge cosign. Otherwise, you'd might as well make a beat CD and market those beats........
