Yes, but I'd rather it be an official release is all I'm saying.
I have to agree with Fade here, Illmuzik is his brand. A brand he built and has kept going for around 20 years.
Its all well and good giving Fade a cut from the profits, that would be expected, but ultimate creative control of what is released under the banner of "Illmuzik" ultimately must be Fade's.
If it didnt use illmuzik branding then things would be different, I think a cut going to Fade would still be a right thing to do given the circumstances of various Illmuzik members making it possible, but ultimate creative control wouldnt be Fades as his brand isnt being put on the line..
I think such a project would be less of an EP and more an LP given the number of producers here who would be interested in getting involved with such a thing.
Also we have the issue of releasing music you dont have the sample clearance for. This could affect a lot of the sample based producers here.
I think it would be wise to consider if this is for profit or for promotion.
If its for promotion then a lot of sampled material could be used that wouldnt be able to be used for profit.
It could use the illmuzik branding and be an official illmuzik product, although free.
Fade would still have to have ultimate creative control if it uses the branding.
Instead of doing an LP, could also consider doing a series of EP's, of collaborations between maybe one producer and one emcee or one producer and a few emcees.
With the number of producers here, you could end up with four or five EP's. Could be done for profit. doesnt necessarily need the illmuzik branding, but for sampling producers who cannot profit from uncleared samples, I think a series of EP's not for profit would be a good idea and could be an official illmuzik series of EP's.
Im just throwing out some ideas, take them or leave them.
