hey im new to creating music on pro tools but need to know what type of things do i use to make a song im creating sound hip hopy....like what virtual instruments should i use in expand etc,etc

I would also like to know how i convert a pro tools file into a file that can be played on windows media player.

I'm sure people hate when they get those dead end answers like Kurtis said but Sketch it's true, you can use any sound. I barely use synths so I wouldn't know which synths to tell you to use exept for Steinberg's synths and IK Multimedia. And since your very new and learning, the best thing for you to do would be to watch video tutorials and read tutorials. You can find a shitload of tutorials on YouTube.

Fist of all, stay away from cheap thin sounding synths/vst intruments and get yourself some solid tools like NI,Trilogy, G-media, etc plug-ins...

Drums sound are more crucial to your signature sound than anything else..so I would spend most of my time searching/tweaking drum kits to get a good foundation for your tracks.

-Sampling vinyls for drum hits can be a good starting point.+ adding distortion/filter Fx

Groove and arrangement is underestimated in the equation...Try to emulate the funky vibe of real musician and try to avoid hard quantizing everything...

Work on that for a few years and you might land a placement someday...
