You have many options for hardware, you could go the sampling way and get you a mpc or asr, or you can compose your own music, like getting the motif, also what is your price range and what are you looking for in hardware

If you have FL wait til december when version 5 comes out. It has alot of new features, it also has a drum machine called the fpc, which I think is was design just for the mpd 16. I have a Mpd 16 and a midi keyboard and when I'm in a rush I use my computer keys. Try the mpd 16 though, I the the fpc will make it much easier to use the mpd with flstudio without using all those layers nahmean? check out the screen shots.

Well all i can s do comment on is what i have

I have an mpc2000xl a MIDI controller and a motif soundmodule( and some event moiniters)

For me this set up has been great, I do all my sequncing on My MPC and i have the flexabliltiy to exapand and add more to my set up(im getting the fanton XR rack next month). I used cubase to record and multi track. I think this is very flexable.

I can controll sounds in my soundmodules and samples in my MPC from my MIDI controller and the MPC pads
great flexablility

class....

What is the reason you want hardware now? Just asking because think about purchasing gear you can build on, don't think about getting hardware just because it looks good or because it's cool, if you have FL Studio now I would go and download FL 5, that can almost hang with the MPC in my opinion. Don't worry about getting hardware for show and tell, show them your dope tracks instead and get what you can afford and what will work best for you right now. Don't you dare get the Alesis SR16, man I had that drum machine like 8 years ago, it's way too old to be any good to you, FL Studio will be much better than that.

So you want a controller? Do you want keyboard style or drum machine style, like somebody else mentioned if you really want/need hardware get the MPC1000 with your computer you have the USB interface for sending samples back and forth and you can sequence and do all the amazing MPC stuff. But you can also do all that in FL Studio, you'll wind up buying shit you don't really need but it's up to you. It's all about being creative. Check out the Keystation 88 controller very dope.

Gettin a good sound module is a good thing if you got the money for. It sound a lot better than software and it saves you precious cpu and HD space.

JV1010 can be a good idea cuz you can expand it with one of the ten roland SRX boards available.

I just bought the Fantom XR it gonna kill. Motif and Triton are great too.

E-Mu MoPhatt is great for Hip-Hop. I suggest you to not buy a sampler hardware. It cost too much and you gotta buy memory and stuff to go with it everytime while you're pc with a soundcard is actually a sampler.

But gettin a sound module is a good idea.

By the way guys I already got FL 5 complete. It suck like every fruity loop version. It's not a software it's a toy, some plug-in sound great and it boast everything for 100$ but editing is completely disastrous. It get frustating after 20 minute, nothing's intuitious, there's many basic tools missing. This software is not musician-friendly at all. No matter why only amateur use it and no professionnals do.

Get a Pro Tool or at least Cubase or Reason. Now you talk about serious software.
