the VestaFire (the 1st one) is definately gear lust... i couldnt afford a Tascam, so i bought something that was truly a fukkin knockoff... one of my worst purchases ever!
the next was the Yamaha MD8... it took minidiscs... it was actually pretty good, i did a few trx with that.
but i didnt realize what i was missin with the computer till i bought the D1600 (the 3rd)... i felt validated when "Da Band" was usin it on "Makin the band" on MTV...
so when Korg came out with the D16XD i jumped on it... all my trx is on it, it can be used with the computer and all that... its just protools, garageband etc... in hardware i guess (digital portastudio)... but i does do the job... im just doin Hip Hop... u dont need much for that... i really didnt need to upgrade, the D1600 is still bein used in studios... that was my last peice of gear lust in my system.
its all basically the same as what Kontents is usin... just bigger, and prolly more features... thats all.

I dig both Kontents and Slik's Digital Mulittracks. I had a Sony Minidisc multitrack for about a week, wasn't crazy about it, exchanged it for the VS880, had that for about three years, then had the Korg D16 for about three years. I've been on the PC for the last four years, however I miss those little portastudios. The D16xd looks ill.
Those other big joints are nice and luxurious as well.
For the last five years I've had the Onyx 1220 with the firewire connection. It's treated me well, I'm actually really enjoying it. Only problem is inputs. Eventually I'd like to get two Onyx 1640's and have 32 inputs via firewire (right now I have four mono and four stereo aka 12 inputs).
