PC problem...

Well.... So many threads before me came , peoples PC's gone....
Today I came home...unhappy... Went to mix one of my peeps songs, when the beat dropped all power stopped only on the PC...
All life was sucked from it.
Various attempts were made to push the power button, some of which resulted in multiple "beeps" from the tower itself , yet nothing evr manifested on the monitor...
I removed everything and plugged it into another socket ....Nothing.

SOOOooooooo.. This led me to call my boy in cali who is Bill Gates to me..
He says I need another power unit and that may be the problem.

I am hoping so as I really cant afford all that I foresee wopuld be a major cost to replace everything.
This is without knowing if the hard drives were damaged or anything, however I have a feeling they werent.
This has been a real shit day with this as the apex so any advice or shit would be a help.

Yeah same thing happened to me a while back too, thank god it was just the PSU.
But then if it starts and then beeps it could be a faulty hard drive.

the all important psu, the often overlooked component. get a new brand name one with the enough power and great reviews and the right connects.

you could do what i did one time, i bought one of the inexpensive generic ones just to make sure that it was the psu and then bought a good powerful one (and not just based on wattage but on distribution as well)

Yeah, I actually need a power supply for this desktop that is sitting in my closet, it's my girls' old PC but it's custom... I'm thinking of trying to max it out and use is as a primary workstation.

Those generic PSU's can be pretty noisy. But I can see its worth getting one just to see if thats the problem.
I suspect though that if the motherboard is beeping the PSU might not be at fault.
The beeps are actually telling you whats wrong, but without the manual for the motherboard its hard to know what the beeps mean. I might be able to find out if you know the manufacturer and model of the motherboard.

mine beeps evertime i turn it on or off.. so i wouldnt go by that.. relic what are you doing not having your data backed up????????? 1TB external harddrives are only like $100 bucks now.

I have External drives, I just hadnt backed up recently..
My wife made me take it up the street to geek squad , hell shes paying for it so we'll see whats what and go from there.

Diablo, it wasnt the beep that had me trippin, it does that when I turn it on, the fact that it was giving me multiple beeps didnt seem like a good thing.

The happy ending for future people reading is that yes it was the power supply everythiing else is good.
Been back in business!
